Re: The AJB Glossary (So Far)

I remember us often discussing 'The Codename Theory', a phrase coined by Lee Tamahori. This theory sees each Bond as a different person, merely operating under the same 'codename'. It is an idea treated with hostility by most Bond fans!

On the AJB front, may I suggest 'Mods', the simple word used in reference to the site's moderators

Also PM - Private Message.

And both Ali Kerim Bey 46 and FROSTY (for those of you who remember ajb007/wink ), can be used to describe immaturity, or insanity.

Re: The AJB Glossary (So Far)

A very entertaining thread! I have to admit I am a bit sorry I never made any term worthy of the list, and that includes my typo "Vesperm Lynd":#

Re: The AJB Glossary (So Far)

The Vocal Minority has often been used to describe Craig's (and the reboot's) most outspoken detractors.

Perhaps there's a place for this in the glossary.

Re: The AJB Glossary (So Far)

Behind closed doors, there are a good few more abbreviations and codes but there's a reason for that ajb007/wink

I'd add:

AJBers - the colleactive term for members of this fine community

Copyright - the reason why AJB has never allowed MGM/UA/Sony images of the Bond films to be included on the site

Craig-bashers - the antonym of the Craig optimist

Gun barrel - the classic, pre-pretitle 007 introductory sequence

Moonie - term of endearment for AJB's other rottweiler moderator, Moonraker 5

NSNA - the unofficial Bond film Never Say Never Again that is closest to being thought of as a "proper" Bond film

Topic closed - the familiar mod-squad refrain

Indeed.  And if we're going to include nicknames on the list, then certainly Mo belongs on it!

Re: The AJB Glossary (So Far)

For the uninitiated, we should define "double-taking pidgeon"; a moment in a Bond film (in this case originating in Moonraker) which stoops lower than most in search of a cheap laugh, when the director/writer has run out of ideas. Much the same as "jumping the shark" (look it up).

References to "invisible car" and "cgi surfing" recall the most unconvincing elements from Die Another Day, and now stand for anything ludicrous in a Bond movie.

Fun thread by the way.

Re: The AJB Glossary (So Far)

How about one that I came up with post-CR; the line which refers to 'Bond, James Bond,' that also being the final and extremely stunning line of CR. ajb007/biggrin

Re: The AJB Glossary (So Far)

Beloved Character- Ol' Q (Desmond) certainly qualified, perhaps DJD's M does now. In any case, a character whose appearance brings comfort and familiarity.

Here in Britain the media often extend the title National Treasure to a person known by all and loved by most- Paul McCartney, Michael Parkinson, The Queen, Russell Brand... well, maybe not him, but you get the idea. Is it the same in the States? (Not talking about Nicolas Cage movies here)
