Topic: Work On 'Bond 23' Begins

Michael G. Wilson has finally revealed that some work has begun on 'Bond 23'

Exactly how much work is debatable, but it's still nice to know things are moving...

Re: Work On 'Bond 23' Begins

I had hoped that we would not have to wait too long. Even with other projects, EON looks to be ready to move forward on Bond.

Excellent!

I can't wait.

Re: Work On 'Bond 23' Begins

I sure hope this means that Eon are eyeing a '10 release...if anything, perhaps they feel the pressure to have a film (#24) out in '12 for the 50th Anniversary.  The only way to do that---without simply waiting four years to put out #23---is to stick to the two-year turnaround.

Here's hoping!  ajb007/martini

Re: Work On 'Bond 23' Begins

Work begins on #23. I'm guessing that means coming up with a story idea and getting someone to write it. I'm guessing filming would begin about this time next year, maybe late 2010?

Some people would complain even if you hang them with a new rope

I hope they're farther along than that...if filming doesn't start by January '10, it'll definitely be an '11 film  ajb007/crap  ...and then no 50th Anniversary Bond film (not that I mind that so much)...but I loathe the prospect of a 3 year turnaround when they've built up so much hard-earned momentum  ajb007/frown

Re: Work On 'Bond 23' Begins

With the price of publicity these days, going with a 2011 release for 23, then a big DVD blitz for 2012 (production costs would be about nil for that ajb007/wink ) might make EON-sense, maybe?

Here we go again. Endless anticipation. Counting down the days. Impossibly benign choices of actors/actresses/bands and musicians linked to the film... Wouldn't have it any other way.

Had another thought about it:

A few weeks ago the news was EON had not one but two other side projects they were keen on producing, and MSW had that quote re wanting to take a break from Bond... yet now he's quoted as saying work on 23 has begun?  Was EON angling for some particular piece of behind the scenes leverage with MGM/Hollywoodland?  Seems there was a lot of unusual noise about Bond not happening, and then a reversal cuz... somebody paid off?  Was the past month or so about liar's poker? ajb007/bond

Blue, I think you're right. EON would definitely do everything in their power to increase their bargaining power, and spreading rumours about wanting to take time off would certainly do the trick.

Re: Work On 'Bond 23' Begins

Should we start a BOND 23 thread and place this there?

Re: Work On 'Bond 23' Begins

I've noticed a pattern in the more recent Bond films:

TLD - Good
LTK - Bad
GE - Good
TND - Bad
TWINE - Good
DAD - Bad
CR - Good
QOS - Bad

OK then, the bad ones aren't necessarily bad (except from DAD ajb007/tongue) but I think that you all know what I am getting at.
If the series continues in this trend then Bond 23 should be quite good ajb007/smile

I noticed this too, and completely agree with this list.
And so, I have high hopes that Bond23 should be good, but we've along way until we can tell.

Re: Work On 'Bond 23' Begins

I don't know why but I have the feeling that Bond 23 will be better than QOS although not quite as good as CR.

Bumcum, The World is Not Enough was not quite as good as Tomorrow Never Dies and Quantum of Solace, GoldenEye's reputation is pretty overblown except for its famous video game spin-off, and License to Kill is pretty underrated even if its general tone is somewhat atypical, while the Bond franchise languashed next to violent cop action thrillers that dominated the era.

What an ususual word. ajb007/lol

Personally, I would rate the post-Moore era the following:

TLD- One of the four worst  Bond films of all time.
LTK- One of the six worst Bond films of all time.
GE- The eighth best Bond film of all time.
TND- Brosnan's third best film, and one of the fifteen greatest Bond films of all time.
TWINE- Brosnan's best film, the last really good film, and one of the fifteen best Bond films of all time.
DAD- One of the four worst Bond films of all time.
CR- One of the six worst Bond films of all time.
QOS- One of the four worst Bond films of all time.

Re: Work On 'Bond 23' Begins

There are many places on AJB where one might trumpet one's favourite Bond films, and slag one's least favourites.

I think this one, as the title of the thread suggests, is for discussing the latest on Bond #23...just an observation.

Cheers  ajb007/smile
