Yep!

Please, don't call SF pointess. Sure, it's storyline was even thinner than QOS', but it had smashing dialogue, and was a rousing tale overall! Bond's don't always need a story to make sense- look at DAD, thick plot, fairly well structured, and the movie still came out rather a mess from lacklustre direction. Mendes delivered in that dept.

Sorry Sir Miles, you made it too tempting with your wording. As a martial artist, I can't resist an easy target. ajb007/embarrassed

Don't get me wrong, I do like a story line too !!  ajb007/lol

From that point, SF was very good. A coherent plot made a welcome change.

What I really didn't like was the Shanghai and Macau scenes especially Bond on the boat thing going to the casino.

All got a bit 'American Beauty' for my tastes.

Anyhow, just my opinion. All I know is that I much preferred SF once Silva came on scene and things picked up.

I think I would prefer a more action based director. I quite liked what Ritchie did with 'Sherlock' so at the moment I would give him a bash.

I LOVED the Shanghai and Macau scenes....and the boat scene too....I thought they were very Bondian indeed...and they looked spectacular....

I suppose it goes to show just how different we each see Bond and what we regard as being 'Bondian'.... ajb007/martini

+1 re those SF scenes, I really enjoyed them and thought them totally Bondian. Less so on the QoS angle, though I have to admit it's growing on me (minus the first half editing and the abomination that passed for a title song, of course).

Not something I'd listen to apart from watching the movie, but not really an 'abomination'. Sort of on the level of AVTAK I should think...

Re: Article: Who should direct the next James Bond movie?

Composed by David Arnold ("Surrender", which should have been the main title theme for TND (he did the score) rather than the end title theme; "The World Is Not Enough" theme & score; "Only Myself To Blame" (also from TWINE; heard instrumentally in the score); DAD score (don't blame him for the Madonna song); "You Know My Name" & CR score; QoS score)

Lyrics by Don Black (TB; DAF; TMWTGG; "Surrender"; "Only Myself To Blame")

Vocal by Dame Shirley Bassey (GF; MKBB; DAF; MR)

If those aren't Bond credentials I don't know what is!

No, song choice by record company politics. Someone decided that having the title song sung by a 70-year old wouldn't sell the film.
