Since Date confirmed-What type of Villain do you want?

James SuzukiJames Suzuki New ZealandPosts: 2,406MI6 Agent
Since 2015 has been confirmed as the date for Bond 24 I thought a thread about the type of Villain members want in Bond 24 is suitable.
The one thing I liked about Skyfall was how they seemed to focus on the bad Guy; Silva.
He didn't turn up till half-way through the film but I thought that was done on purpose. They hyped his character up and it worked perfectly.
Now I want a really good villain for the Fourth Craig Film and someone original and evil. What do you guys think?
An obvious pick is Blofeld...I want him back too.
I reckon they could really pull him off well if they avoided the Clichés. If they gave him a background and brought him into more of a Head of Quantum role t would be cool. Some people think Blofeld should end but others (me included) feel that Blofeld wasn't given a good enough ending in the film series.
I thought it would be cool if they brought Quantum in referencing QOS but also showing how Bond had changed since that film.

I too think that Blofeld was a massive part on the Bond series who, too often, was poorly portrayed or not used to his full potential. However, to bring him back into the series now would be a very risky move. Austin Powers sort of ruined the whole Blofeld thing. It would have to be done very seriously, not stereotypically and in a completely modern fashion. And if done this way, why make it Blofeld at all? I think the reason Quantum was brought in was to bring back the IDEA of SPECTRE but not the actual thing and I think this was a wise move. Leave SPECTRE in the past, but by all means create a new terror threat from another organisation. Getting to the root of the whole Quantum thing would be a good idea by all means, but I don't think they will go for it. QoS was slated too hard (unrightfully IMO), but surely the folks behind the magic know that QoS wasn't respected massively by fans and to go back and reference that movie so heavily now would be unwise. If they happened to do so, maybe QoS would get the respect it deserves but I don't see it happening. Also, if they made another movie with Quantum at the helm and it didn't go down well, like QoS didn't, then its a double-whammy disappointment.

I think we'll get a completely new villain, a lot more physical than Silva who didn't fist fight at all. A villain who can physically pose a threat to Bond so we can see a fight between them which we haven't really seen much of in recent movies. The fight between Bond and Greene in QoS was great visially, but short and somewhat anticlimactic. I think the villain will be a stand alone bad guy, unrelated to Quantum and opposite to Silva in terms of energy and physicality.

Since I recently watched QoS on slow play I can now say I am not against the idea of Quantum returning again in some form. However, I agree with last Rat. Leave Blofeld behind. Let Quantum have a committee of leaders, making it very hard to knock the organisation down, each with different skills and strengths.

A good Bond villain is intelligent, resourceful and against Mr Craig, should have agility. I also feel that there are options to explore with the recent events in cyber attacks and whistleblowing. Although Silva was doing so to MI6 directly, you could have an enemy doing this to other countries, and perhaps capitalising on what he had done? That in itself is an angle that could work with Quantum.

The one thing we don't need is something that emulates Dr Evil!
This is Thunderbird 2, how can I be of assistance?

Idris Elba as Mr Bigs brother out for revenge and the title could be Brotherly Love and with the two Os it would be ideal for the 007 logo.

Leave Quantum and any other SPECTRE like groups behind. I think a villain works best when he/she doesn't answer to anyone and works on his/her devices

I would like to see the return of Quantum. Bond 24 could be their 'Thunderball', although hopefully a lot more entertaining.

Quantum is dead. I want Spectre. Saying Austin Powers ruined Blofeld is an odd statement to make, I could of said Joel Schumacher ruined Two-Face but then look at the Dark Knight.

I think Silva should of turned out to be a revised Blofeld who survived at the end of Skyfall somehow and developed a personal vendetta with Bond for ruining his plans who in each appearance tries to push Bond to his limits in a way that is similar to the Joker/Batman relationship.

Plus I just want to see more Javier Bardem, he is brilliant to watch in a villainous role.

To me, one of the things I enjoy about Bond films is seeing a different actor playing a new villain each time out. I thought Javier Bardem was great as Silva, but I wouldn't want to see him return in the next two or three films; and if the producers were to bring back Blofeld I'd hope it would be a one-off effort. The one thing that truly made him Bond's arch-enemy was his killing Tracy; that was done once, I wouldn't want to see it again. Let's keep looking forward.

Well, the Blofeld of the books never had a white cat, or even a tunic. Or a bald head. The guy in TB is quite heavy, flabby, thick set with a cropped haircut but can move suddenly to fire a dart into a member of Spectre. Then he transforms himself for OHMSS, he's only in 3 books mind. So we could do all that - but call him something else. Job done, but have him kill someone other than Bond's wife but fairly close. M would have been good, but done that.

In the Bond universe of the re-boot, LALD hasn't happened, so no Mr. Big's brother out for revenge. Well....I guess it could of happened in between QOS and Skyfall but I really think EON is trying to avoid that sort of thing.

I kind of doubt Quantum will return, obviously they very well might, but i believe that the whole Quantum organization fizzled out after QOS's poor reception. Besides it would be kinda odd to just pick it up again after Skyfall. I would much rather they come up with an original stand-alone villain like Silva.

I think the concept of shadowy organisations and secret societies is an intriguing one and would welcome a return of Quantum as there is still a story to be told.
SPECTRE returning is less desirable because it's been done. To bring them back would be close to remaking the old films, which would just be ridiculous.
Also, I found Mr White to have a haunting presence and I really want to see what happens to him.

I like the idea of an educated villain, we haven't had one in Craig's era. Silva was slippery and creepy and a good agent and hacker. Greene was weedy I did enjoy his character but he didn't seem to be a threat to Bond, Le Chiffre was a mathematician, a gambler but that was about it.
The last 'educated' bad dude was Toby Stephens in DAD, but I reckon a man who quotes famous pieces of literature and has a big library full of books would be cool. If John Thaw's Morse was evil

Dunno, we've had plenty in the past, Rosa Klebb, Frauline Bunt, Elektra King, the list goes on.

With other options seemingly exhausted, a female villian would seem to be the only 'original' route to go down at the moment.

Then again as this is a re-booted series Craig's Bond has not had to deal with a female villain. So it could be fun. :))

Personally, I would love to see some of the grittier (still unused) elements of LALD brought into play, using New York as part of the action (if ever there was a Bond actor who could get a pinky finger broken, IMO it's Craig) and making it a springboard to other things. Ving Rhames would be good...then again, I'd like to take it farther and get somebody like Morgan Freeman to go against type and be a complete evil badass B-)

:)) I'm reading LALD at the moment, and agree M Freeman would be a great villain, or D Washington.
Or given that they seem to be a bit of a double act at the moment we could have Morgan Freeman and
    Michale Caine. :))

I would love to see Blofeld back but i would re imagine the character to bring him up to date a bit. I would make him an ex soldier who makes money from selling intel like in the books and uses the cash to start Quantum. I would also have him know as a different name for the whole film with his true identity only revealed at the end. Just for good measure maybe make the film take place in switzerland and at the end bond shoots him in the head as he falls from a cliff. They never recover the body so he could come back as a bald man with a scar on his head, hell bent on revenge.

I would just like to see a return to the trusted formula, after all the origin/bond begins stuff I fail to see where they can take it next, Bond isn't Batman, the source material is alot more limited and seeing as they seem to be avoiding looking to the novels for plots/characters I really don't think I will enjoy Bond 24 unless it gets back to what made the series work, I always expected the series to go back to the trusted formula once the producers told the origin story they wanted to tell, it's been dragged out over 3 films now and everything h
    as come full circle.

I have always dreamt of the return of Max Zorin. That final 'Golden Gate Bridge' scene is one of my favourites of all time; the scene, the fight and the music are all Bond perfection (to me anyway!).
Remember that Zorin was allegedly a result of his mad scientist father's experiments with using steroids on pregnant women; meaning he was a 'superchild' with 'extraordinary intelligence' but also 'psychotic'... somehow the effect of him being a superchild with a steroid count could have meant he actually survived the fall into the water.
The return of Walken as a Bond Villain, in my opinion would be amazing.

I also read in Roger Moore's book that he would love to be a Bond Villain, he actually looks like one now!
I'd still go with the return of Zorin, however.

One of my first posts here by the way...nice to be here :)
    Thanks,
    Mark.

    How about Judi Dench?
Quantum have gotten hold of her body, cloned her and she now heads their organisation?
