Topic: Bond Blu-ray and 4k Film Club

Now that all the Bonds are on bluray, and on another thread a question was
asked about the quality of the transfer. I thought for anyone interested  we could
Start a Film club, in the same vein as the Bond book of the month thread in the
Literary section ( started by a member with the body of an Adonis and the looks
of George Clooney ) .
Where  starting with DR NO ( in July )  we can watch the film, look at the special features,
Commentary etc, and exchange views and opinions. Or if you have the DVDs we could
see what differences there are between the two formats, maybe even some memories
of the old VHS  movies.  ajb007/smile

I thought it might give us a reason to re-watch the films again
( not that we need a reason  ajb007/lol  ) and compare notes.  ajb007/cheers

Ha - yeah good excuse to re-watch them!

What's the plan - one a week / fortnight / month?

Re: Bond Blu-ray and 4k Film Club

I was thinking one a month, I sure no matter how busy you are you
Could fit it in once a month. ( sounds a bit naughty  ajb007/lol  )  It would
be interesting to read others opinions as we might watch the same film
but we don't always see the same thing. Maybe some of us don't delve
too deep into the special features, but we might find out about some
really interesting stuff, that " We didn't even know existed "  ajb007/wink

One a month sounds good. We will be around GE by the time Bond 24 comes out. Maybe speed it up next summer to get the whole series in ajb007/biggrin

Re: Bond Blu-ray and 4k Film Club

Re: Bond Blu-ray and 4k Film Club

OK guys, for anyone interested. Starting in July and beginning with
Dr No & FRWL, every month we'll have a double bill of Bond  films.
On whatever format you have, but for those with bluray versions. It
Would be interesting to get your views on how good you think the
Quality of the transfer is, as well as thoughts on the special features,
Commentaries as well as the film of course.
This should mean we'll be done in a year and hopefully all fired up in
Anticipation of the latest Bond.  ajb007/lol

Re: Bond Blu-ray and 4k Film Club

Sounds like a good idea, I bought the blu ray boxset just before Christmas and basically watched one a week, just finished two weeks ago.
Will now have to convince the other half to watch them again, which might prove difficult, but it occupy her mind while she is knitting  ajb007/lol

Her review comments would be on the lines of:
Why did he do that?
Well that's stupid.
Look at her dress that's awful.
Oh god he's wearing flared trousers.
That's impossible nobody can do that.

Might even give some the excuse to watch the odd Bond they've been avoiding  ajb007/shifty
as it's basically "Homework"  ajb007/lol. Also a brilliant excuse for wives/ partners etc

Re: Bond Blu-ray and 4k Film Club

I'm in the same boat as Peppermill, standard Dvds.  Looking forward to this!

This is Thunderbird 2, how can I be of assistance?

22

Re: Bond Blu-ray and 4k Film Club

I only used Bluray in the title as it's the latest version so should have all the latest
extras ( If any different from the many dvd editions ) and if anyone has any opinions
on the transfer to bluray, basically how good is it.  ajb007/lol

Re: Bond Blu-ray and 4k Film Club

I'm with Peppermill & Thunderbird2 in that I only own the Ultimate Edition DVDs. But it's a grand idea & I look forward to joining in the fun.

Re: Bond Blu-ray and 4k Film Club

Yeah does not matter about which version we have I guess overall review of the movie, commentary, features etc.

Seems to be a few people of late on the fence about purchasing the BR version therefore I guess BR owners will chip in with that!!

Even VHS owners should chip in!!!!!!  (or Betamax  ajb007/lol )
