Re: Bond Bluray Film Club

The man with the golden Gun :

The picture is bright and colourful and very detailed, in the 1.85:1 aspect ratio. All in all
a pretty good transfer, with good sound, as always the extras are the same as Ultimate Edition DVD

The Spy Who Loved Me :

Thankfully back to the 2.39:1 widescreen format, Great picture ( although some of the special effects haven't aged well )
Although regarded by many as  one of the Best Blurays in the Bond set.

Moonraker :

Looks great on Bluray, widescreen  with punchy colours and bags of detail. Great sound too. Same extras as
Ultimate Edition DVD, but with all the Bond discs there are loads of extra material & with the Moore Bonds you
get his commentary on them all.

Next week it's For Your eyes only.

Does LTK look better on bluray?

1.On Her Majesties Secret Service 2.The Living Daylights 3.license To Kill 4.The Spy Who Loved Me 5.Goldfinger

Re: Bond Bluray Film Club

In my opinion they all look better on bluray  ajb007/lol , the colours and details look much better. I've read
some mentioning small problems in the transfers and up grading of the images but honestly I haven't
noticed any.Maybe after many watchings I will.  ajb007/lol  but for the moment I'm very happy.  ajb007/cheers

TLD & LTK were the first ones I purchased on BR, and both look amazing IMO. All kinds of clarity & detail I hadn't seen before. But it's not a game-changing difference- my DVD's look darned good too, it's just a little more eye candy.

"Just cleaning up a few details" ...... Q, in AVTAK

For the most part the clean up of the old prints has been fantastic, looking at some
Of my older DVDs, you can see the scratches and little dust spots etc. While after
The cleaning process, they look like modern films. Full of contrast, colour and
Detail.   ajb007/martini .
Can't say much about the sound as I don't have a 5.1 or surround system. So can
Anyone express an opinion on the sound options ?, on my Telly the normal stereo
Output sounds great.  ajb007/martini

Only problem I ever had with DVD sound is that the cat screaming at the beginning of DAF has never souded as good as it did in good old analog mono. ajb007/rolleyes

Re: Bond Bluray Film Club

I'm watching them on a standard 32" screen, I wonder if anyone has
An opinion on the quality of the DVD/ blurays on a larger screen, say
A 50" or  so TV ?

I have a 55" flat screen in my Bond Room (basement) where I watch movies when I want to get the full effect, and they all look noticely better on BluRay. Plus I have surround sound, so the listening experience is superior as well.

Great, I was hoping to get some views on the sound. ajb007/biggrin
And  how well they look on a bigger screen as My next TV is
Going to be enormous,  ajb007/lol  no matter what the wife says.  ajb007/biggrin

Re: Bond Bluray Film Club

Just watched TMWTGG last night.  The Blu-Ray glitched twice, stalling for several seconds, only a few minutes apart:

1. Bond gets into the power boat after the kung fu scene.
2. Local boy tries to get couple to buy wood elephant - jumps to boy in Bond's boat.

Anyone else having this issue?

Re: Bond Bluray Film Club

I've found blurays to be very temperamental . I've had them stop
For no reason, had to stop them pop them out of the player, give them
A wipe. Then they play fine !  ajb007/crap  can happen at anytime with any film.
Or so I've found.
Unless others have any thoughts, tips or opinions ?
