Racing Green or British Racing Green is more traditionally a Jaguar colour, not one very often used on Aston Martins.

Re: New Aston

Yep, it's a racing colour, Top Gear explained it as the first international
Car race ( or some such thing) was held in Ireland, so in honour of the
Host country Britain chose Green as their Racing colour.  ajb007/biggrin

There's nothing in the wheels' design suggesting it is related to the gunbarrel. There are ten spokes which look like blades, straight and not curved like spiral arms; five of the spokes go right to the hub, the other five ending a little earlier. Similar to the 1967/68 Shelby Mustang 10-spoke wheel, with no relation to the gunbarrel. But it could be too subtle to be picked up by me. Or maybe you are imagining things. ajb007/wink

Regarding the Top Gear interview:
He's particularly proud of the DB10's front end, a front end apparently inspired, in deliciously Bond-villain fashion, by frickin' SHARKS. "The grille doesn't sit on the upper surface in any way," Marek explains. "It's all on a negative surface, like a shark's face. This car has the lowest nose that we've ever produced."

Wow, a car inspired by a shark - how innovative! The Corvette Mako Shark concept is only 53 years old ... ajb007/tongue

I have become a big fan of Pixar's cars films. In doing some research, I found Aston Martin had a DBR9S, racing number nine, in racing green. In Cars 2, he is anthropomorphised as Nigel Gearsley. One of only three vehicles that are a deliberate direct representation via the manufacturer of a racing vehicle in the films. All the others are combinations or approximations.

Ha ha I am glad someone picked up on that. That very DBR9S is why I said "not one very often used on Aston Martins".  ajb007/bond

Re: New Aston

A video of the DB10 with sound surfaced on Instagram. Sounds great. And it seems that the steering wheel is on the right side like in the DB5 (I haven't noticed that before).

Re: New Aston

I like it that the steering wheel is on the right, maybe a race/chase scene in England? But don't like the design of the car. I like the DBs way, way, way more, that was a gentleman car, this is just a pure racing. It's nice to see Bond in a new Aston, maybe it will look cool or better in the movie than on the videos/photos I've seen. Sadly that they didn't use the new Vanquish, would be a nice wink to the past and a beautiful car for Bond.

Now there is an idea for some of the opening scenes to be leading directly on from the gun barrel sequence... Good spot Casino Ice.

I don't like it... Probably because I love the Forza 4 trailer featuring Jeremy Clarkson and the pre-lift Aston DB9 and I want it to stay as it is without modifying...

I quite liked that.  Good work even if it's not the proper trailer. I think it showed that the white cat could be used appropriately without the film becoming a pastiche.

Re: New Aston

The car does look a bit better in motion. But still not F-Type levels yet.

Re: New Aston

Seeing it move has made it slightly worse for me.  - The DB10 looks bloated and fat! I think the fact the lights are proportionally smaller and the front grill bigger and wider strengthens that perception. Even the sound of the engine (there is a lot of ambient noise) didn't improve things.

In Bristol today I say another Aston, this one with a matted black body. Beautiful car but I was puzzled that it had no ID badges on it to identify the model type? Only the trademark AM wings. Potentially a Vantage, or maybe a DB9? Beautiful, beautiful car.

This is Thunderbird 2, how can I be of assistance?

Re: New Aston

Hey folks, while I was in the Co-Operative the other day I spotted an article about the the DB10 in the current copy of Auto Express. It includes a small Q &A with Dr Andy Palmer CEO of Aston Martin.  It also contains some speculation about other vehicles in the film...

Re: New Aston

So it appears it has a V12 engine, not a V8 as it was speculated. Also - 8 used in the movie, so they leave one for the Aston Martin museum and one for showing off at the premiere night probably. It's a shame we will never witness the car on the road - the DBS will still remain my life purpose in that case!
