Topic: My behind-the-scenes photos of Spectre filming in London

Hi
I took hundreds of photos of the Spectre filming in London during the spring and early summer. Tourist hotspots like Trafalgar Square, Westminster Bridge, Whitehall, the River Thames and parts of the City shut down in the early hours. I really just took them for myself and thought it would now be great to share the images with fellow Bond fans (I am not a professional photographer). They were taken from public streets, often from far away and I have cropped out the crew/security in some of the shots. You can check out my pics here (some of the photos may give away some of the storyline). Enjoy...

This looks like it's going to be such an exciting sequence!! And it's good as not much is really known of it. Can't wait to see it on the big screen.

These are amazing pics man. I actually read your article  a while back and have been referencing it in another thread on here because of some of the great pics. This article is the one I'm referring too:

Given the nature of the article, I suppose I should ask you if you are comfortable with us posting your pictures in other threads of this forum, as some of your pictures reveal particular pieces of Bond's wardrobe that has not been seen in any other pictures.

Fantastic work man.

Yeah, I have no problem at all if you want to share the pics on this forum. I would be grateful if you could just add a link to my Flickr account on the posts. Glad you are liking the pics! Thanks  :-)

Excellent photos, and I am sure some were very difficult to get. Thank you so much for sharing them.

Re: My behind-the-scenes photos of Spectre filming in London

Thank you. It was a challenge. A lot of the time it was just knowing where to go and when, plus being prepared to stay up all night! Sometimes I saw very little at all. Westminster Bridge was a nightmare as the public were kept so far back and I didn't have a long enough lens. It was actually quite emotional at times – probably as I was so tired from walking loads and standing around in the cold for hours. The extra filming lights on the Thames lit up much of the river like I have never seen before. The stretch between Vauxhall and Westminster bridges was turned into a giant film set – it was quite a spectacular sight, and eerily silent at times, as most sensible people, including tourists, were in bed. One time it was just me and the Bond film crew on Vauxhall Bridge, with Mr Craig and Co underneath in a boat. Now that was very surreal at around 2.30 in the morning. Sadly those pics didn't come out so I borrowed a better camera and lens the next time!

Not a problem. Will do. Again, many thanks. Many of your photos are already iconic images in my mind.

Thanks... It was also interesting to see which bits did and didn't make it into the final movie!

Great photos, I'm so glad you got to be there. It's obvious it was chilly during that shoot, do you remember what the temps were at the time?

Re: My behind-the-scenes photos of Spectre filming in London

Not sure of the temperature exacty but it was a chilly spring/early summer this year in the UK, overnight at least. I was wearing a beanie hat after midnight and a fairly thick coat. I started taking hot drinks with me in the end. By the river it was also a lot windier than elsewhere and temperatures dipped considerably in the early hours. Vauxhall Bridge is always very breezy, even in the summer. The actors, including Daniel Craig, wore thick hooded ski jackets over there costumes during takes. I kept warm walking from bridge to bridge though, negotiating the large areas closed off by security/police. Sometimes it was a long walk, especially around Westminster Bridge where it was difficult to get close to the action.
