I'm with you there; this would allow for more immersion into the location/setting. THAT is an element of the classic Bonds that would serve Eon better than checkboxes for various past occurrences.

Could have Blofeld kill Madeline and make it look like Bond did it. A revenge story plus man on the run.

Bond has killed innocent people in the past and faced no consequences. It wouldn't work now. M would believe Bond, and he has enough power to not have the authorities going after Bond.

Re: Spectre - what next? ***SPOILERS***

Fewer locations but better use of each. I have (as others) long wanted Bond in Australia, the range of different environments could be superb. Very little time in London (my Berg) maybe just opening and closing with maybe a brief episode in Japan.

ditto. No more revenge, no more rogue. Please I beg of you EON, more than enough already

What if Bond is no longer with MI6 (you know, as is suggested by the end of SP?)?

I'd think he would still have the connection. But I'm with chrisisall and zaphod99. I don't want another revenge or rogue story. I want another James Bond 007 story.

I don't want another revenge story, either. It's probably time to move on to the next Bond actor and have a soft reboot.

But if you are going to have another film with Craig, you'll need to have an explanation for what happened to Madeline. This isn't like the Sixties where Bond can go floating away, seemingly in love with Tatiana, who is never heard of again.

If they adapt Fleming's YOLT story, I'd be okay with more revenge. But I never got the impression that Connery and Moore were ever in love with their Bond girls. Tatiana was in love with Bond, but not the other way around. Craig, yes. But I wouldn't buy the idea of Bond on the run. I think they can combine the idea of revenge and still have Bond do his job.

Re: Spectre - what next? ***SPOILERS***

Like the novel, YOLT. Have Bond sent on a mission, the revenge element
could just be an added personal bonus for Bond. So he completes the
mission and gets "closure" on the past.  ajb007/wink

Re: Spectre - what next? ***SPOILERS***

Personally it wouldn't bother me if DC was in the next film and Madeleine was not present.  Its part of the Bond franchise, do we really need an explanation, Bond girls come and go.

Guess it depends if it starts where directly SPECTRE finished etc but I would be happy for DC to do a non related story / new mission to end his tenure and give this linked stories a break.

Is Waltz likely to return????  I think thats a key question?  If not then I would prefer the new Blofeld returned with the new Bond for continuation sake

Re: Spectre - what next? ***SPOILERS***

What was interesting in the novel YOLT is that Bond is basically falling apart (after the death of Tracey) and nobody trusts him any more (even Moneypenny's giving him the side-eye).

This was sort of done in Skyfall.

I'm on this page, no explanation required as someone else said (sorry I forget who) a simple " it didn't work out" would be enough. The relationship such as it was did not seem particularly developed so no biggie in my view. I agree it might be slightly easier with another actor to draw a line under the (loosely and retrospectively) connected story lines, but not impossible. My vote would be simply to move on with or without Daniel. His involvement need not hinder anything and would need to be balanced against the considerable risk of introducing a new actor.

If they bring Blofeld back (I don't think they will and I don't think they should), he would more likely be played by a different actor to keep up with the tradition (the producers are very serious about such details). We saw him with a face scar, so the new actor would be explained as a result of plastic surgery. Same with Swann - don't think she will return. Bond girls never return, and that well-established tradition has been kept even in Craig's movies, despite the desperate efforts to link the individual movies. I could, of course, be wrong, if they already had a plan for the new script - but I doubt it, the scripts nowadays seem to be written on the run and finished at the last minute. So let's wait and see.

Re: Spectre - what next? ***SPOILERS***

Blofeld will be back, I think. The only questions are whether he returns in #25 or #26, who plays him, and what actor plays Bond opposite him. At the moment my gut is telling me that the principals from SP will return for #25...but it's all just speculation until Eon spills the beans.

I do believe the 25th Bond Feature will be a significant event, and this is something to consider as we continue to speculate  ajb007/cool

Bond 25 - "SPECTRE Returns"? or just "Blofeld's Revenge"? ajb007/rolleyes

Also we recently had 50 years of Bond, compared to that I would expect movie 25 to be much more low-key. They will not top Skyfall so quickly.

I'll leave the title to you  ajb007/tongue  But The Death Collector remains my personal preference.

And perhaps they'll just ignore the landmark 25th release...but that's not really the sort of behavior one expects from publicity/marketing people  ajb007/martini

Re: Spectre - what next? ***SPOILERS***

There wasn't an awful lot of noise for Bond 20, which was a much more round anniversary, guess they may have been already getting prepared for 50 years. If the marketing crew has changed, who knows what approach they will take. So far it has been quite inconsistent recently - EON and Craig could earn quite a bit on the side if they made it easier to make licensed 007 figurines, for instance. As it is, instead of paying exorbitant licence fees, manufacturers prefer to sell generic "secret agent" figures who only "accidentally" resemble Danny Craig... But, ultimately, all that matter is whether the movie will be good or not - not the noise they make around it, or even the title.

222

Re: Spectre - what next? ***SPOILERS***

The quality of the film is always key, naturally. But publicity people like angles, and #25 is an angle. #20 was DAD, the 40th Anniversary Bond, and in fact there was a fair amount of noise.

Re: Spectre - what next? ***SPOILERS***

Practically every Bond movie is an angle, and sure, there is always a fair amount of advertising, which also depends on the country. The amount of advertising for Skyfall in Australia was absolutely unprecedented, Bond was on the cover of almost every magazine. It appeared to be aimed at the general audience, who may otherwise not see a Bond movie. That was very different from DAD, which where I was appeared to be aimed at the Bond fan more than the casual moviegoer. But like I said, it may very well have been different in other countries.

Understand, but blink and you missed it in Skyfall

Wasn't half of Skyfall about Bond being old and out of shape? And for the 1983 films, a fully active 55-year-old Roger Moore was far better than an over-the-hill 53-year-old Connery.

IMO, Connery looked better in NSNA than he did in DAF. Connery at any age looks like he could whip Moore's ass ajb007/lol  ajb007/martini

Re: Spectre - what next? ***SPOILERS***

If they do the retired Bond angle being called back to service they could avoid the old, burned out "Skyfall" angle by having Bond not being  burned out; just retired from MI6, collecting his pension and working as a consultant or for a private firm.
