Re: SPECTRE Bluray & DVD

Imagine the old days before even vhs, after the cinema release
It could take between seven to eight years before you'd get to
see it again on TV  ajb007/biggrin. I think in the future, you'll be able to buy
the download when it's showing at the cinema.

I hope that doesnt happen. That'll have some serious consequences for the box office  !

Re: SPECTRE Bluray & DVD

I think it will ( Behold, I have spoken!)  ajb007/lol
Simply because the technology is there, and many people have home
Cinemas, or at least huge TV 's . so for an extra charge I can see companies
Selling downloads.
It's only a matter of time until the cinema gets their movies via a download
Themselves, as already they are delivered to cinemas on basically a memory
Card.  ajb007/biggrin

Re: SPECTRE Bluray & DVD

I think you're right TP cinemas will become an experience venture. I think the price would be high for a new download though, as what's to stop people buying one download and showing at home to twenty people?

It was either that.....or the priesthood

It takes the fun out of anticipation. That's why I don't go to movie as frequent anymore.

Re: SPECTRE Bluray & DVD

Oh I think there are several problems to get past, perhaps charging a family
ticket price for one showing, just like renting from  Google movies etc, but
I think it's coming.
At the moment I've pre ordered  the bluray, but I'll also be ordering the download
from Sky store or Google movies.

Re: SPECTRE Bluray & DVD

Do we have a Google release date yet?  normally films on Google play are released same time as dvd

It was either that.....or the priesthood

33

Re: SPECTRE Bluray & DVD

I'm sure it will be available from the day of release, although I'd
Hope they'd follow MI5, and release it early for fans. I think  The
Man from Uncle was also available for download a few days before
the DVD release, but I'm not certain about that.

Re: SPECTRE Bluray & DVD

Both mi5 and man from uncle popped up on the sony entertainment network 5 days before general release, I'll be keeping an eye out for spectre.

May I ask why? You will be paying twice for the same movie...

Re: SPECTRE Bluray & DVD

With Sky you get a dvd as well as as a download, With the dvd I can make a
digital copy to keep on my "Bond Tablet" , It might not make sense to many
but it works for me.  The bluray is for the best quality.

It will be shorter and shorter.
Look at how long the movie plays in theaters. In the old days, it was out for months, now it's gone after some weeks.

Imo a big factor is to fight illegal releases (piracy).
The sooner we can buy it, the smaller the piracy damage gets for EON.

I've never seen a film on bluray but keep thinking about investing in a player. A couple of questions:

In terms of quality what difference is there between DVD & bluray?

Can you play normal DVDs & are the upscaled in any way?

What sort of cost are you looking at for an average bluray player?

I do have a new (year old) Sony full HD TV so that should be compatible.

Re: SPECTRE Bluray & DVD

For Dutch fans, the steelbook is available for pre-order at Mediamarkt:

Cheaper than the Amazon version and with Dutch subs.

Re: SPECTRE Bluray & DVD

Stag, I bought a great little Sony bluray player ( with wireless internet
connection ) for only £75.  ajb007/smile  and it's so small, like a paperback book.
There's not much difference in formats on smaller screens but on
Bigger screens you can clearly see the better quality of blurays, I have
a 50" JVC and the blurays look amazing on it.  ajb007/smile

Hello Stag,

1. The quality difference from DVD--> Blu Ray is like from VHS-->DVD
Blu Ray leads to around 4 times more pixels that a DVD. The bigger the screen the better you see the difference

2. Blu Ray players also play DVDs which are slightly enhanced. But there is still a difference to true Full HD Blu Rays

3. Most People use a PS3 or PS4 (Sony Playstation) to play their Blu Rays, I do.  So if you have one of these, you don't have to buy a separate player.
