Topic: SPECTRE Honest Trailer!

https://twitter.com/screenjunkies/statu … 9672290305

Looks like SPECTRE will be getting the Honest Trailer treatment this week!!

I'm a big Honest Trailer fan and though I like SPECTRE, I admit it's not a perfect movie so will be interesting to see what they say.

It's all in good taste so I wouldn't take any criticisms too seriously.

Here's the Skyfall Honest Trailer if anyone is unsure what they are: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5FWfg__wKSY

Re: SPECTRE Honest Trailer!

Nice! I do like Honest Trailers, they've been getting better as they've got on.

Spectre did have its problems, I think even people who think it's the best Bond film can see that. But I still think it's a very enjoyable film, and despite the 2h 28 runtime, I'd say it's one of the best paced films in the series (it's certainly the best paced film Craig has done).

Re: SPECTRE Honest Trailer!

I watched SPECTRE countless times since its had its iTunes release.

I find it VERY enjoyable (loved it in the cinema) however I'm starting to feel like it could have been really special with a bit more effort in the writing and directing dept.

The car chase scene is now starting to baffle me (not much excitement at all)

I still think the trailer with OHMSS music is amazing and had that somehow been incorporated into the film, that alone would have kicked it up a few notches!!!  I saw this trailer again the other day and the music along to the footage gave me goosebumps.  Amazing how much difference the soundtracks make!!!

Load of Crap ! ( The honest trailer, not Spectre)  ajb007/wink
One point about the pauses between dialogue in the board meeting
Scene. Ordinary people speak quickly, to cram as much information
in as quickly as they can. Rich Powerful people speak much more slowly
as they are used to being listened to.
So in my opinion far from being a mistake, the long pauses are in fact very
Accurate.   ajb007/wink

Of course it wasn't exciting. Bond had an intelligence gatekeeper exchange on the phone with Moneypenny, whilst lazily sideways drifting round the empty streets of one of the busiest capital road networks in Europe, 'pursued' (and I hate to say this) by a Jag that technically should of outperformed the V8 DB10. Bonkers.

QoS PTS. Now THAT'S an exciting car chase! And the DBS growl is all the soundtrack you need to listen to with that one  ajb007/biggrin

Re: SPECTRE Honest Trailer!

If im honest mate the car chase in QoS was a bit meh for me personally also, however I put this down to the super fast editing rather then the stunts themselves.

I still think DC needs to be given a better car chase scene if he stays on as Bond!!

Agree with the growl though ajb007/smile

Re: SPECTRE Honest Trailer!

I actually think the honest trailer is pretty spot-on. If SPECTRE had been thirty minutes shorter, even with Craig's slightly disengaged performance and the pitiful score, it could have been something special.

Craig's performance was his best since QOS!

Dalton & Connery rule. Brozz was cool. Craig is too.

I agree with you. I thought Spectre had Craig's best performance by far. He seemed the most disengaged in Skyfall.

Re: SPECTRE Honest Trailer!

Obviously I'm not going to agree with a video that is taking the mickey out of Bond (although I do think the honest trailers are quite funny) but this one just kept pissing me off. I love the SPECTRE meeting scene, Daniel Craig's performance and several other aspects that it criticises. On the other hand, I enjoyed the dig about playing Goldeneye on 'Agent' difficulty.  ajb007/wink

With you 100% on that ! It does seem like they just missed making a real classic Bond film  ajb007/crap

Re: SPECTRE Honest Trailer!

In some ways, it may have been better if SPECTRE and Skyfall had been swapped in terms of style.

Having a more classic, by the numbers Bond film would have been more fitting for the 50th anniversary and then Skyfall, which offered something new in terms of the genre, would have helped Bond in what was a year full of spy films.

The one thing that does annoy me about the Honest Trailer, and a lot of the American coverage I saw of the film on Youtube, is that it kept being compared to Captain America: Winter Soldier & Hydra.
I mean to start, the literary SPECTRE were in existence before Hydra but also, so was the film version.

Re: SPECTRE Honest Trailer!

Some younger reviewers, don't seem to have heard of Bond,
before Craig. So probably think Spectre is a copy.  ajb007/crap  I still
Love the review that mentions the New York scenes.  ajb007/lol

Re: SPECTRE Honest Trailer!

I thought it was funny, and it landed a couple of body blows, particularly  the "it brings nothing new to the table"  and " Goldeneye on agent difficulty" I agree with TP that the pauses worked. Indeed the Boardroom scene is one of my favourites.

I'm a fan of Craig, particularly CR and QoS, and I also think he's a professional, so I'll not accuse him of going through the motions with SPECTRE, but I can't agree that it was his best performance. I would place it in the same vein as Connery in Thunderball--"slightly disengaged." I respect your disagreement, though. I know quite a few of you really enjoyed SPECTRE. I'm hoping it will grow on me.  ajb007/martini

Re: SPECTRE Honest Trailer!

I thought DC looked very relaxed and confident, comfortable in the role of Bond in
Spectre. I'm not saying anyone's interpretation on viewing is right or wrong but I
do think we transfer  many of our own opinions on to what we see. I enjoyed the
film, liked Craig as 007, loved the action sequences and locations. So I'm in a happy
place.  ajb007/smile

That may be true for someone who had a negative opinion of Craig before seeing the film, but that was not the case for me. Therefore, my opinions are based only upon what I saw, and not the other way around.

Re: SPECTRE Honest Trailer!

After my initial viewing , my only disappointment was Christolph Waltz's performance. I think I was expecting a more.......well Hans Landa

However, watching it a second time, without the anticipation of a new film, I found his performance to be a lot more sinister. I think the long pauses at the meeting were to reinforce his position as the top man, with a genuine fear / respect from the others of his character .
