Luna Lovegood was the name of a Harry Potter character which i always thought would be a perfect Bondgirl name.
Maybe time for Britain's two greatest franchise series to have a crossover adventure?

I'd be onboard for Gaga, she's got a great voice and I could see her producing a powerful Skyfall-esque song. I'd just hope the fact that she's stared in a big movie recently wouldn't give the idea to production to cast her in an on screen role as well, like a certain singer in DAD.

she does have  great voice and could be relied on to do a classic style Bond theme. But she also strikes me as having a very big ego, I think there is real danger she would insinuate herself into the film proper.

If she was in the movie she'd be great but it'd have to be a prominent Grace Jones type of role. So depends on the plot, may not suit this one.

Re: Bond girls / artists for theme song

I have not yet seen A Star is Born so cannot compare, but that is a point, she has gotten very good reviews for that part and is now a proper actress, maybe she could play an actual character.
It just seems like she's every-bloody-where, that's why I think she has a big ego.

Grace Jones' acting I found distractingly bad. I have never seen Conan the Barbarian, which came out round the same time, so do not know if she is trying to play a character in aVtaK or if that's just her regular self.
I would rather she had done the theme song, instead of Duran Duran, and maybe not be in the movie. Although she certainly plays a unique Bondgirl, who gives that old misogynist MooreBond a new experience.

Madonna's cameo in DAD has never bothered me. I didn't even recognise her the first time I saw the film, and her part is so quick it is not distracting.
Whereas Sheena Easton actually being in the opening credits to FYEO, as if its a music video, that does bug me.

Kathleen Kennedy, JFK's sister, had the knickname "Kick".
Imagine someone named Kathleen "Kick" Highbottom as a Bond girl  ajb007/bond
Very Bondian and at the same time realsitic enough to work in the modern area.

I think Enya would make a perfect Bond song. I know that a lot of people think only of her music for Lord of the rings whenever they hear her but I think her " quintessential Enya" sound could really add some pathos to a Bond film, especially with some classy Titles. Her voice is unbelievably beautiful.

not a terrible suggestion, but personally I prefer the harder hitting themes. Enya would no doubt be the opposite. But it's all good. I'll take Enya over Samuel Smithe any day.

Re: Bond girls / artists for theme song

Grammys! The Grammys were on last night FYI. I think we have a better idea now who is going to be the Bond25 theme singer.

See all the winners and nominees here.
https://www.vulture.com/2019/02/grammys … egory.html

Looking back at the Bond theme singers, the typical singer is, more likely to be female, a Grammy winner, has very high recent album sales (and streaming these days), and probably going to be American. Of DC's four films, only one, Chris Cornell had not won a Grammy the year the movie came out, but he had won them before.

I think Ariana Grande must now be a front runner for the theme singer. She won her first Grammy last night, for Best Pop Vocal Album, but also important is that she is the top streamed female artist (https://newsroom.spotify.com/2018-12-04 … s-of-2018/) according to Spotify and she was Billboard's woman of the year (https://www.billboard.com/articles/even … music-2018) for 2018.

Dua Lipa has been much rumoured as the Bond25 theme singer, but she has said she has not been asked
(https://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/a … theme.html). Dua Lipa won two Grammys last night for, Best new artist & Best Dance Recording. Why I have previously written that she wasn't nominated this year is odd, oh well.

Anyway, Dua Lipa's debut album, Dua Lipa, was one of the top ten albums of 2018, according to UK publication NME (https://www.nme.com/news/music/best-sel … 18-2426467). And according to Spotify she is the second most streamed female artist (https://newsroom.spotify.com/2018-12-04 … s-of-2018/) after Ariana Grande.

However, if you look at the US publication Billboard, you can't find Dua Lipa on their album charts and you really need to be known in the US to be the theme singer - as the song is a marketing tool. The Dua Lipa album was released in the USA on 2 June 2017, and it went nowhere. For that week's album chart on Billboard (https://www.billboard.com/charts/hot-100/2017-06-03) Dua Lipa is nowhere.

Re: Bond girls / artists for theme song

Bond girls.

Gemma Arterton was confirmed as a Quantum cast member on 4 January 2008 (https://www.mi6-hq.com/sections/article … firms.php3) and Olga Kurylenko 4 days later on 8 January (http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/entertainment/7176310.stm).

The Quantum press conference was on 24 January, 16 days after Olga's announcement, so on that basis we could hear about Bond25 cast members, maybe the female MI6 agent and the mysterious woman, by 21 February or even as early as 17 February.

Spectre's press conference was 3 December 2014 and  Lea Seydoux was rumoured as early as August but confirmation came by 10 October, 54 days before the 3 Dec press conference, which would be 9 January for a 4 March Bond25 press conference. Fukunaga revealed Seydoux was coming back on 7 December 2018.

Monica Bellucci, while rumoured earlier, only really got confirmation 24h before the Spectre press conference.

Re: Bond girls / artists for theme song

There was a rush of location rumours around the last week of January, we still don't know what is true or not. I hopefully we'll see the same when it comes to casting this week or the next.

I'm sure they'll pick great new talent, male and female as well as the known returners. I really like it when they launch new peoples careers, that's what a Bond film should do with it's global power. ajb007/smile

Re: Bond girls / artists for theme song

I think Lady Gaga would come up with an awesome track.

Or a band like Years and Years but they maybe too edgy!

Yes I agree, an unknown songwriter appeals to me!   Lol

Btw, when I hear the title of the new movie I might write my own version of it, depends how it’s worded, for example a couple of people had a stab at ‘Never dream of dying’ but mine is the stand out, ‘Risico’ for example was considered a bit tricky, I’m guessing because I think I’m the only one who gave it a bash.

Dont think many movies have the word "dying" in the title.

Think either it will be 1-2 power / action words, or a phrase like "licence to kill"

How about.... "Half life"..... would be better if a radioactive theme and a play on the words with the characters life stories....maybe.

Or "Norse code".... only works if location is Norway

I think the bond people historically have liked one word titles, the more unique the better,

Think, thunderball, goldfinger, goldeneye, octopussy, moonraker, spectre, skyfall.

True and most of those are two words just jammed together..... rather like

"Heartstopper"
"Nightvision"
"Highride"
"Escalate/escalation"
"Hydration"

I still like Norse Code ajb007/smile

Grammy winner and rumoured Bond25 theme singer Dua Lipa won best British single award last night at the BRITS, the UK record industry's awards event.
https://www.brits.co.uk/news/brits-2019-winners

I don't think this means she'll get chosen for sure, but it can't hurt her chances. Sam Smith won a BRIT in 2014 and Adele won in 2012.

Re: Bond girls / artists for theme song

Everyone has their favorites.....but a band or artist who is more of a regional success isn't going to get the Bond theme gig. Now that doesn't mean said regional artist is not up to the task, the best fit or not more talented than the "big" names, it's just that the Bond theme artist has become as much of a business decision as an artistic one.
