This is Tom Brittney. He's an English actor, 28 years old (making him about 33 when we need a new 007) and 6' 2'' tall.
He's done some TV work, most notably taking over as the new lead of Granchester after James Norton. He was also in EON's "Film stars don't die in Liverpool", so he's probably met Barbara Broccoli. My first impression of him is that there is nothing wrong with him as a candidate to play Bond, but I'm not convinced Brittney has that extra something.

I think the fact that he worked on Babs' film has to be a big plus in his favour. I find it hard to believe he won't be screen tested, and maybe he has already.

DC was asked if he would play Bond in September 2004, so he was on some peoples' radar even then. He said yes, BTW.
https://www.independent.co.uk/arts-ente … 34666.html

By January 2005 screen testing was well underway, but I find it hard to believe Rory McCann (https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0564920/) was the favourite.
https://mi6-hq.com/news/index.php?itemid=2045

Then in February, it was allegedly down to Clive Owen and DC. This is the earliest article I can find that refers to DC as being officially in the running.
https://mi6-hq.com/news/index.php?itemid=2169

By April 2005, six months before his official announcement, the media were reporting DC as the new Bond.
https://www.theguardian.com/film/2005/a … sbond.news

I guess one possible timeline for the new Bond and Bond26, assuming Bond25 is DC's last film is;

March 2020 DC officially resigns
Universal announces Bond26 release date of November 2022 (I find it hard to believe they signed up for just one film) for the 60th anniversary.
Media speculation of the usual suspects
Q3 2020 more realistic candidates are talked of as Bond26 story rumours indicate likely age for the seventh Bond.
1H 2021 rumours of casting calls/screen tests
October 2021 official announcement with December filming start.

He does seem popular with Women. I can see he does have a strong screen presence. Just watched Skyfall again and for me it all comes together here, nicely judged touches of lightness and humour, great physicality. Only mared for me by brutish hair which stymied his 'resurrection' back to Bond, although I'm glad they avoided the silly suit and a shave transformation of DAD.

Agreed. I am by no means a Craig fanboy, but to say he lacks screen presence as Bond is perhaps a touch of willful blindness. As a reference point, Henry Cavill is someone who truly lacks screen presence.

Craig also has charisma, just not the same charisma as say Brosnan or Roger. He certainly doesn’t have the classic look, which I would like to see them return to (Craig was a bit of a palate cleanser after the impossibly handsome Brosnan). But when you read Fleming, you can see what Craig is going for in his portrayal. I’ve always respected that.

You'd be in the minority on that one I'm afraid. IMO, you could see and feel Craig's screen presence in Layer Cake.
Layer Cake was pretty much an arthouse film in the US and very well reviewed with most critics, with Craig being seen as having star potential. IMO, his screen presence and gravitas overcame his non traditional movie star looks in CR and sold the public on him as Bond. His physicality and ripped physique also fit the modern perception of an action hero.

Craig's screen presence, charisma, and energy single-handedly carried QOS.

Tom Brittney comments, I think for the first time, about potentially doing Bond and he references the fact that he has worked for Babs Broccoli.

The Daily Mail spoke to him as he has replaced another Bond candidate, James Norton, on a TV show.

That’s how it works for the tabloids and bookies. He is poking fun at that.

Always been curious about the "bookies" thing. Are people actually placing bets with bookies over the next Bond? Where is this happening?

Richard Madden...I watched "Bodyguard" on Netflix not long ago and if this wasn't his "audition" I don't know what is.

I actually think "Another way to die" could ha ve been pretty good if the two artists smply tried to harmonise their voices. It would be interesting to hear a version of the song where the singers tried not to make the two voices work together and not against each other.

Re: Poll: Who would you like to be the next James Bond in Bond 26?

Apparently Babs Broccoli wants DC back for Bond26.

Not exactly a reliable newspaper but as this thread does wild speculation...

Personally, I'd like a new Bond with a 3-year gap between films.

What is says is accurate: "serious names tipped for the job". The media is tipping these names while Broccoli isn't considering anyone to replace Craig at the moment.

Re: Poll: Who would you like to be the next James Bond in Bond 26?

I read it differently:  If Daniel will come back, but if he didn't the newspaper thinks they would be serious candidates. But regardless of interpretations, it's The Sun. I don't take them seriously.
