Poll: Who would you like to be the next James Bond in Bond 26?

I have created a poll where I have named all the candidates I can think of. I have cast a wide net, but I left out the most ridiculous candidates mentioned in the press (Tom Cruise, Gillian Anderson). If your candidate isn't listed, just post the name of the actor. This poll assumes Daniel Craig won't be in the next Bond movie, even though this is uncertain now. Click the link and chose one candidate:

I think this poll is showing interesting results, but if 2016 thought us anything it's that celebrities are at least as mortal as the rest of us and polls are not to be trusted.
I've been thinking of making a other poll with the same names, but with the question being who is acceptable as Bond or who you think are good candidates. The poll would need to be set on multiple choice.
I think this would be interesting to me, because I see a fair number of good candidates on this list.

Fassbender. He is my #1 by far. I think he has great humor and can look lethal and dangerous. He would be the perfect mix for a perfect Bond.

Hiddleston is so dominant one might suspect many answered to who they thought would get the role, and not who they wanted to win.
That would be completely unfair of me to claim this to be the case, but I have to admit thinking it after reading the results.

The other poll shows more varied results, but hiddleston is still in a class of his own, even though Fassbender and Aidan Turner have a lot of support too. Media favourites Idris Elba, Damian Lewis and Tom Hardy poll like lost Republican presidential candidates, hardly getting any votes. I'll never understand the support for Dan Stevens, but he does seem to have some support. I can't accuse AJB007 members to be slaves of media opinion and the bookmakers' numbers, and that's both interesting and positive. Do others have thoughts about the polls and the results?

I voted Tom Hardy. He has the look, the acting and certainly has the acting skills to bring a complete unique take on Bond to the series!

He only has two things going against him in my opinion: - He's to well known, and his age. Given the larger gaps between Bond films nowadays, this would not work in his favor. For these two reasons (and mainly the first one) I don't see him ever getting the part. So he's more of a dream choice than a realistic one for me. But damn would he make for a bad ass Bond though! :D

So for a more realistic choice, I would have picked Aidan Turner. He's not that well known yet and is still very young. I would say he has a bigger chance. Shame to see Hiddleston up so high. I defenitely don't see what's so special about the guy, he seems so opposite of who I think Bond should be. (But then again, I felt about Craig the sameway pre CR...)

Speaking of Hardy, there is some more press speculation concerning him going on again:

In an ideal world where he was tied down by being Superman, Henry Cavill.

The way I see it Hardy is the super-Craig: short, blonde, muscular and rugged, not the traditional Bond look, really to old to start up as Bond, famous characters actor. Only more so than Daniel Craig. :D

Hardy is 40, but when you actually see him out of character he actually has a relatively youthful looking face; not craggy like Craig. I don't believe Hardy has blond hair either. Hardy like DeNiro throws himself into roles and my guess is he would sport a muscled but lean and wiry look for Bond as opposed to a more bulked up muscle bound interpretation. Hardy would not be my choice but it would certainly be interesting to say the least.

It's ideal that he is tied down by Superman because thankfully it takes him out of contention for Bond.

    (Shakes head)

None of the listed choices really make sense to me. Either they are too well known, too old, or untried as leading actors. - Which is the one aspect that can only be determined by casting directors and the producers.
I voted Dan Stevens because he is the closest match, but he suffers from Typecastphobia. I can't really see him committing to a four film contract. Aiden Turner takes second place, as he has done stage and tv well, and starred in big budget effects films as an ensamble actor, and is the right age to start as 007.

Elba and Cavill have specifically stated they are flattered people say they should be Bond, but they are not interested.

CR-O6 is my favorite Bond film, and Mr Craig has cemented Mr Fleming's 007 for me as a result. But as of QoS, his character will probably be remembered as the 'Oh woe is me' Bond, alongside Sir Sean's 'The Original Definative' and Sir Roger's 'The Ha-ha Funny, but effective' Bond. But I have had more than enough of that woe.

    New actor, new start please!

I'm actually relieved Elba didn't get votes. In my opinion it shows that AJB007 members are realistic. Elba is great actor, looks good on screen and did fantastic work in The Wire. But he is 44 years old and simply the age one might think of leaving the James Bond role, not getting cast in it. There is also another issue. Both the books and particularily the Daniel Craig movies has stressed the fact that Bond is the son of a Scottish laird and a Swiss woman, and few would argue that Elba looks like the son of such a couple. Race is a touchy issue, but there are simply some roles an actor's ethic background is problematic for. In a franchise were the main character has no history, such as Mission Impossible, this wouldn't be a problem. Bond has a history, and I think it's strength for the franchise.

Well, Bond's history changes. I don't see that as a problem at all. And, if Elba is nonsensical as Bond, so was Craig, and yet he got the role.

I do realize that we will not see Elba as Bond, but this is a poll about who we would like to see as Bond, not who will be Bond!

You are right about this poll being about who the memers would like to see play Bond. That's why I included all the candidates I could think of, also those I didn't believe in myself.

Bond can and must change to a certain degree, but not too much. The problem is that if Bond and his history changes too much, he will not be Bond anymore. How much he can change is always a matter of debate.

I have aslo googled "nonsensical" and can now reply that Craig isn't ...... that. :))
Craig stretched the limits of what the cinematic Bond should look like, but his look never gainsaid Fleming in any important way.

Ive done a u turn after some research and would like Tom Hardy after dc. I still believe dc will do one more, Hardy is 39 and that may count against him but I would only see him doing 2 or 3 tops.
It was either that.....or the priesthood

I agree with a few that Elba is a non starter for me to play Bond. As others have said he's to old for starters, and Bond has history, it's all laid out in the novel OHMSS, and referenced in Casino Royale.

However I would have no qualms about him playing other roles in the series. M, Q, Leiter, or even another 00, maybe even a Villian. He is a wonderful actor and I really enjoy watching him, he's fanatstic. just can't be James Bond, only my opinion though.

I want Craig back for one more. But I also want Jeffrey Wright back as Leiter in a larger role. Craig and Wright play well off each other in both CR and QOS. The prescence of Wright as Leiter, if written well, seems to do a nice job of grounding Craig as Bond and Wright is so deadly serious as Leiter it gives Craig more of a chance to project somewhat less somber as Bond...if that makes any sense.

Craig and Wright play off each other better in The Invasion. They have little interaction in the Bond films, which is very unfortunate.

Absolutely. Wright is an excellent actor and the relationship between Bond and Leiter, as agents and friends would be a nice fresh departure from the typical conflict between Bond and authority (M in particular) and Bond's past. If they want to break the pattern they have gotten stuck in with Craig, bringing Leiter back into the storyline in a more key role would be a great way to do it.

Agreed. Elba would be a nice fit in 15-20 years or so, if Fiennes quits and elba is in his 60's.
