It would be lovely if such a thread could truly be a place for 'news' to be 'discussed' - without potification or condemnation - or, devolution into some sort of an arena where one set of beliefs must be vanquished, and the obvious AJB majority's validated with a triumphant last word. However, any serious student of AJB history can see the likely outcome of such a proposition, if any degree of intellectual honesty is applied to the question
I see this on some times when i read the AJB as a guest before joining. always the same happened. one side to be banned other side to be rubbing hands and always the same side. why this to be allowed again here? there is many places to talk this things on the internet sites. i think it is not to educate or to discuss these things but to see to be the champion on many times. this is my opinion.

If such a thread is ultimately decided upon, it will be against my repeatedly-expressed personal wishes, and I'll likely not participate, except perhaps to comment on a major event of some sort that transcends the ridiculously ugly politics of the moment.
I have lost more than one friendship here because of things said during inflamed moments that have nothing to do with the supposed purpose of this site, which is most regrettable. I will lose no more, here, because someone else has a different vision of what government should do.
If you want to ask me how I feel about a particular issue, PM me and I'll respond at my convenience, as (like all of us) I'm busy with my ever-shortening life, but I won't shy away from any issue and will give an honest opinion. It likely isn't yours, and our subsequent discussion or argument will likely not change any minds, but perhaps we can be friends who disagree.
It's a James Bond fansite, lest we forget. If you want to play ideological 'King of the Hill,' kindly leave me out.
My love and peace to all. Cheers
Sadly I have to agree that what I described has sometimes proved to be an ideal that not all of us have followed. My hope is that if my suggestion was implimented (members who behave badly are banned for a while instead of closing the entire thread), the tone would benefit from it over time.
I googled potification. Partly because I hoped to learn a new word, partly because I wonder if you implied drug use among members (would perhaps explain one or two things ). Imagine my immature delight in not only finding a misspelling that wasn't mine, but also learning the word pontification. Thank you

Graham Norton is Irish, isn't he? ........
I love your shows, I often watch them on Youtube

this would not work in my opinion. again i give only my opinion as i remember reading before i joined the ajb. i think some members now that they would never be banned and they would just make sure others to be banned so as to win the discussion and have the last say. we must leave this talk from the ajb and make this go to other places where peoples can talk without being banned or to fall out from being friends with ajb members. i see there are many political talks forums. I do not understand why peoples just don't go to these. here it will never be friendly talk even if it starts to be this way in the first posts it will soon become a fight.
The TP News Thread would feature actual alternative news - bring it on!

I blame the late hour over here for the misspelling There's a reason why writers need editors. I shall fix that.
You're welcome...and thank you
On current news and the funding of the NHS . I think it's time the health service and education, were
Taken out of the hands of whichever government is in powers the time, and instead. A Parliament
Controlled body, takes over the running. Giving a coherent objective and not constantly changing
On the whim of who's in power at the time.
That can't happen- it's quite sensible, so they'd never do it.
I think something drastic needs to be done with the NHS, it's gone from being a service for unwell and injured people to that as well as a halfway house for homeless people, a temporary home for elderly people who are waiting for a nursing home place, drop in centre for drug users, patch up service for drunks, holding place for people in need of social services and an institute for people to get free cosmetic surgery with nothing more than a flimsy reason.
When I'm in power I'll ban gastric bands for lazy McDonald's botherers, people who get so drunk they cause self inflicted injuries will pay £150 ( this may make some take responsibility for them selves) special sections would be created for people in need of a social worker, I'd sack the dozens of management staff put sisters back in charge and the person in charge would be a practising consultant, I'd also stop the ridiculous system of performance and return it to a national service for the people who pay in.

Editors are needed, yes. A friend of mine wrote a viking novel some years back, it might get filmed by teh directors who are filming Pirates of the Caribbean now. Anyway, he tried to invvent viking swearwords. He used 'Hell burns!'. His editor discovered he had written "the health clinic burns!" once
I'd sack the dozens of management staff put sisters back in charge and the person in charge would be a practising consultant
I worked in the NHS for 32 years.... And I back the above 100%
Is this the 'Current News' thread now ?
..... and what happened to lovely, cuddly, Putin ?
Is this the 'Current News' thread now ?
Ahem, quite right thou art, mine liege.
I do believe we are very far from a consensus. Without taking an exact count, it would seem that there is not a decisive majority in favour of opening such a thread. We can of course continue to discuss the pros and cons here.

Back to me with an instrument, in this case my double bass.
Might have been worse, could have been you holding your organ ?
... sorry keyboard.
