Re: Bond 25 wishlist

She was. But do you remember her name?
In spite of all the going rogue (mostly there to show that Hunt isn't really working for "The man", I think) and the kidnapping, the MI-movies are mostly about missions, villans and action. Craig's movies (in spite of their many qualities) are much more about Bond's past and his emotional and personal life. For a while that was fine. Hunt still looks like a blank slate to me, and not a person like Bond. But by now it's too much about Bond's personal life and not the missions, and even the missions are much about his personal life.

Re: Bond 25 wishlist

If Spectre had been a stand-alone film (like Skyfall was, until Spectre retconned it), I think we’d all be singing a different tune. The problem now is that if they come out and do a total stand-alone in Bond 25, it will feel incongruous with the rest of Craig’s films. I wanted a stand-alone with a new actor. But since we’ve got at least one more with Craig, I don’t think it works unless it’s VERY well-executed. They need to strike a balance. Acknowledge what has come before, but not be weighed down by it.

I think you are right.its the reason why I would have preferred a new actor as it would make it easier to Box out of that tight corner. That said I'm hoping for a Craig Bond at the end (or nearing the end of his career) Daniel could and I think would relish getting stuck into that. I'm not holding my breath though...

I want the full Bond theme during an action scene with the full PA-Da-Dada dadada, fan fare please Barbie and Mickey-Gee.
And I want Bond to be in a big yellow dingy with the bond girl at the end.
The title them woven in the score more.
A world threatening villain plot with actual life or death stakes.

That’s not Craig’s Bond, even if it is what you, me, and a lot of other Bond fans are yearning for. With Craig back, they need to finish what they started. A “traditional” Bond film with an aging Craig is dead on arrival and would be a huge mistake, in my opinion. If that’s the type of film they want to make, they need to cast Bond accordingly.

I see where you're coming from, but the Craig Films themselves have changed throughout his tenure.
CR and QOS, sure, I can't see a full on Bond theme played during an action scene or a yellow dinghy scene if the Craig films contiuned to head in that direction.
But Skyfall and Spectre felt like the Craig films were slowly heading in that direction, SP's faults I feel (and I do love the film) is that it dipped its finger in that terriroty, without embracing the outlandish Bond properly.

Re: Bond 25 wishlist

Spectre had so many of the classic Bond elements, but the action scenes played dull music when the Bond theme (or at least some exciting Bond-style action music) seemed appropriate. Maybe if the music wasn't so dull, Craig wouldn't seem like such a dull Bond. But on the other hand, perhaps because Craig's Bond is so dull, dull music better suits him.  ajb007/crap

Re: Bond 25 wishlist

I'd like Craig's (most probably) last outing to not be over 2 hours 15, just because personally although i very much enjoyed Spectre and i think we will look back at Spectre as being a great bond film, I really rate Spectre, i think the only issue is that it followed on from Skyfall. If Spectre was after Quantum of Solace,

I'd like to see Hinx, not Blofeld, Camile come back, Felix Lighter.
M, Moneypenny, Q and Tanner of course!

I would also like to see Craig's Bond ski, would be nice to have 1 final car chase but not to make the car chase a center piece of the film.

Crucial for me is to start with the gunbarrell again like Spectre.

David Arnold to return would be a dream and i would love Nolan to direct! Perfect way to bow out for Craig.

On the gunbarrell note, id find it great to see the return of the below

https://s17.postimg.cc/fpl22xz7v/Capture.png

But with Barbara and Michael maybe as the names on there.

Personally Risico is a Bond film ive wanted after Casino Royale and ive been holding my breath every time they announce the title praying we got Risico. Having said that i wouldn't be disappointed with Property of A Lady.

In 2 minds on Madeline Swann, part of me wants to see her back but maybe killed off opening scene and part of me thinks she shouldn't be in because we've seen too much carry over from film to film lately.

I really want a stand alone bond mission, with a few familiar faces and great script. All is building up to a blockbuster finish for Craig. Gutted it is most likely his last but what a performance he has put in and its been a pleasure to be a Bond fan with him in the role.

What i would like is once he has been replaced, we see the new actor in the role sooner rather than later. 2021 for bond 26 with a new actor would make sense!

Re: Bond 25 wishlist

All the traditional stuff that most people are saying (Gunbarrel at start, etc. etc.)
I would low key want to see short cameos of Connery Lazenby Dalton or Brosnan. Just like in the background or something

A little memorial for Roger Moore too

A normal plot that does not involve personal stuff too much. Go back to like Brosnan and earlier where it does not intertwine all of the movies. I felt that it was too forced in Spectre, and created a whole new thing that I felt kinda ruined some things. I liked how the former bonds were seen at different points in life. (Dalton on a normal mission in one, revenge the next) (Pierce took on 006, a friend of M's daughter, a media mobile, North Korean) (Moore like everything haha). Not contradicting Connery because at least we knew that it all led to Blofeld, not like Craig's case. Just felt too forced.

I won't judge Beyonce until I hear the song.

New soundtrack not like Skyfall and Spectre. Change things up a bit

All Bond movies had something special to contribute. I only consider QOS to be a travesty.

that's a good idea, the only problem is that I feel it might feed into the whole "Bond is a codename" theory which I personally not a fan of at all (I have yet to meet a big Bond fan who does like this theory)

I just had a discussion with an acquaintance who was convinced the code name theory was true and liked the idea. Who ever came up with that concept needs a drop in Blofeld's piranha pool.

Re: Bond 25 wishlist

I'd love them to throw some classic Spy Trade Craft elements into the film.  So going all the way back to Dr No with Bond placing a hair across a wardrobe door.  I am currently watching the TV series Spooks as I recover from back surgery, and I've loved some good John le Carre spy elements, such as dead drops and how they follow suspects.  I just hope they don't stuff it up in Craigs final Bond film.

I’d love to see that too, it’s one of the most fascinating elements of the early films. Have you read The Quiller Memorandum” by Adam Hall? The tradecraft is detailed in a very Fleming-esque way and gives brilliant insight.

Oh yes, some Tradecraft would be great. I love the way that The Bourne identity found inventive ways of doing that, especially the business with the mobile phone. Some small ultra cool things like the Velcro on the jacket in the Living Daylights would elevate and 'Bondify' the thing. Let's hope so.

The tradecraft was mostlyignored by Sam Mendes in his tenure honestly. That's why I didn't like him that much.

Re: Bond 25 wishlist

I'd love a couple of scenes of Bond in between missions, doing the boring stuff he detests and keeping sharp on the range and the mat. Maybe another peek into his apartment.

Re: Bond 25 wishlist

I would like to see an extended version of the snow plough chase from John Gardner's "Icebreaker".  I imagine bond on a snowmobile on a road with high wall/sides of snow (expression?) like this:

https://vertical.snd.no/images/56e8ca83-b3ab-4670-ba0d-55399993c91d?fit=crop&q=80&w=780

A truck with a snowplough comes after Bond and he speeds up. He can't get off the road because of the snow walls on the sides (A friend of mine saw a chase like this with a police car chasing a criminal on a snowmobile). After a while a second Plough truck is coming in the opposite direction - Bond is trapped.  Bond escapes by driving on the snow wall on the side of the road in a bend, "Barrel of death" style. The two snow plough trucks crash. Bond is soon chased by a number of henchmen on snowploughs and all-terrain cars. They enter a village and Bond escapes by using all possible tricks with the snowmobile: jumps, going through houses room by room, down stairs, crossing open water. I don't know how it ends - perhaps Bond finds a third snowplough and attacks the 2-3 last villian cars?

its gotta be bloody cold for those walls to stay in place. looks dangerous just driving next to it.
We say "snowbanks" in Canada, but round here a snowbank never gets to a fraction of that height, so a different word might be needed.
That would make a swell scene, as described, very different from anything we've seen yet. The snow scenes in AVTAK and DAD were quite fake looking and unimaginative compared to some of what was described in that Gardner book you mention.
