Topic: Merry Christmas and AJB review of the year 2017

So it's that time of year again I'm afraid. A bit premature this year ( unlike myself)  but trees are being cut down,  men are starting to contemplate fighting with fairy lights like Bond takes on Spectre,  and we simply have to look back on all the most memorable threads and posts of this last year ( if only so we can move forward next year).  Bond 25 is coming out the year after next,  Daniel Craig will be 78 years old and weigh 22 stone ( sorry I'm British and we have brexited so you Europeans can work out the metric yourselves,  ask a German if you're unsure,  they have all your answers) so this coming year should yield some bond fodder, and we all look forward to it, but on the meantime,  the big man in red is on his way and as it's very quiet around here we should discuss our present wishes, our hopes for 2018 and of course review the most memorable posts of 2017.
I'll start,  the most expensive thread of the year is surely mantis's " biggest bond prop I ever bought" some fantastic vehicles on that thread.
" most derailed thread of the year" that goes to another thread by Mantis,  the " ideas for a vlog " which invited us all to tell Mantis how we mislead and lie to our other halves about our Bond related purchases,as some will know this lead to some sexist woman hating virgin posting all sorts of diatribe which ( eventually) lead to him being put to death by Sir Miles who was a little late before asking "do you want send a message,  or do you want a clean kill?" erm? " JUST GET RID OF HIM ALREADY DAMMIT "  ajb007/biggrin
Other memorable threads include " sexiest thread" going either to the "eva green" thread or the other one with ladies pictures or any thread with Thunderpussy in it.
Best Barman of the year goes to TB2 who's undying love of SABS continues even when he is without any Internet connection and always serves your drink even if it takes 3 weeks.
Worst footwear is again won by Higgins who should for the love of God just buy come brown suede chukkas and save us all another year of the green trainer thing!
Biggest watch show-off goes to Welshboy with his TWO Patek Philipes,  you know " oh I just bought this pp while I was waiting for this one to come up "
A special mention has to go to everyone who has participated in the political threads,  God knows we've had some serious political cr4p to put up with recently but the new short lived thread has survived more than a week and so far Barbel hasn't even read it.
Anyway if you're still here well done,  and please please mention you're own memorable bits of ajb 2017 and let's all have a merry Christmas and a more fruitful bond news 2018. I love you all ( except those I don't love)   ajb007/martini

Clothing thread of the year: AJB Tom Ford Harrington project - finally delivered in 2017!!  Hugely impressive number of participants considering the cost.

Literature thread of the year: the Shakespearian Bond.
I has great fun both reading it and contributing to it, so did many other.

What was the misspelling of the year, and what did I write?  ajb007/lol

As usual, I seem to have missed reading most of these threads. I must make amends. I suppose I'm the literary Bond backwoodsman of AJB though, so no real surprise there.  ajb007/smile  ajb007/martini

Troll of the year: Chula.

(I'm informed that someone very much resembling him made a nuisance of himself at the other place, joining at around the time he was banned here, and has only recently been banned from there. I can't vouch for this, of course.)

Obviously, I agree- it was great fun! (And it's always open for more ideas, of course)

Misspelling... hmm, I think it was your one about the North Korean feet attacking the English coast? Though there were quite a few others (and not all from you!)  ajb007/lol .

I am quite surprised how long he lasted  ajb007/lol

Well, there was some entertainment value to be had!

(And you only liked him because he shared your views on one of the Bond actors  ajb007/biggrin )

Re: Merry Christmas and AJB review of the year 2017

Really, did he?  ajb007/embarrassed
I haven't noticed  ajb007/biggrin

But he was the greatest James Bond Fan, he read a book and he was from New York, so how could he be wrong?  ajb007/biggrin

It may have been interesting hearing about his take on "how we mislead and lie to our other halves about our Bond related purchases" though  ajb007/lol

These trolls are like bad drunks who get kicked out of one pub and then stagger off down the road to the next pub to get another drink, annoy all the men and slur lewd comments to the ladies.  I wonder where Chula is now or if he's bought a new computer and has rejoined here under a different name?

SM nominate one of your own literary threads   I have one of yours in my mind but this is not my thread,  it's for all of us.

I'll have a look over them all (and those of others) and see if I can pick one out. Which one did you have in mind, CC?  ajb007/smile

Yes, that was a good one. It went off on a bit of a tangent too into some really interesting Amis/TMWTGG debates.

That's the one I was thinking of too, although as it dates from 3 October 2015 I'm not sure if it still qualifies for the 2017 review? There were new posts in it this year of course.

Yes and those posts were really quite important to the literary Bond World and Fleming which is why it sticks in my mind  ajb007/martini

Re: Merry Christmas and AJB review of the year 2017

Who's been 2017's most prolific poster?  And maybe someone could nominate " breakthrough member of 2017" a new member from this year who has catapulted themselves into the forum?
Most interesting thread of 2017?
The silencer and bra strap regular of the year?
Most missed member?  for me this is Canoe2
2017s greatest comeback?
I would like to mention ppw306r or Donkey and the ppk thread in particular which gave some highly entertaining posts,  most notably toward a certain gun toting " jackboot wearing numb nut "  ajb007/lol who's so called walther expertise was quite spectacularly undermined,  blown up and exposed and found lacking..... To such an extent Donkey embarrassed him off the forum.  ajb007/amazed
