Spectre was released on a Monday.

This Wednesday release date for Bond 25 likely means a US release date of 10 or 17 April.

That brings up an interesting question - when the Feb 14th date was announced it was a worldwide date (see link below), so is April 8th also worldwide or U.K. only?

http://www.007.com/bond-25-announcement-4/

I thought they would always announce the US release date and simply add that the UK release date was earlier.

But, the Spectre announcement in July 2013 gave both US and UK dates.
https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/ … 4th-583864

Interestingly, the Skyfall announcement in January 2011, gave a "worldwide" release date of 9 November 2012, which was the US date.
https://geektyrant.com/news/2011/1/11/2 … unced.html

For Quantum, there was a September 2006 Hollywod Reporter story giving 7 November as the release date. That would have been the US date.
https://www.mi6-hq.com/sections/article … layed.php3

So, I'd say, the release date is typically the US date and you need to subtract a week or more for the UK date.

Re: Factual News

Variety points out that the move was announced minutes after Universal (which is distributing in U.S.) announced that the new Fast and Furious movie was moving from April to May, so this looks like a business decision on Universal’s part to take that pre-summer slot vacated by FatF rather than any kind of delay on the part of Bond 25...

Re: Factual News

Some more clarity on the situation from Deadline:
https://deadline.com/2019/02/bond-25-mo … 202558710/

Essentially, Easter weekend will be a crowded one in China, which is another reason why F&F 9 pulled out of that frame. Middle Kingdom is the bread and butter for the Fast & Furious franchise. Bond 25 leaves behind what was a very crowded Valentine’s Day weekend next year with an untitled Disney live action movie, Fox’s Nimona, and Universal’s Will Packer untitled romance production.

Re: Factual News

Yes, now that the dust has settled it really looks like a move unrelated to any kind of problem that necessitated a delay. I personally hated the Valentines date so I’m fine with it. Moving on...

Re: Factual News

Sounds truly like a business decision. IMO, The Fast and the Furious" people have done Bond a favour. It's probably better for the US box office as the weather in mid February in the mid to northern parts of the US can be pretty brutal with snow and ice and keep people home. An early April release these days could be perfect:
- the week of the Easter holiday, lot's of students on break from school and many folks off from work
- relatively warm weather (more rain, which is good for movie attendance)
- doesn't have to compete with the summer blockbusters and Bond 25 with probably get a lot of press as "the first big blockbuster of
the big movie season" and how that "summer" blockbuster season has been pushed up to April from May because of Bond
- Bond 25 can hang around through the spring and summer at the multiplexes
-  Bond 25 can still have a home video release for the XMAS holiday.
- Not sure about this one (please correct me if I'm wrong) if the start of filming is moved to early April, it gives Mr. Craig another
month to get into Bond shape (again I might be wrong about that).

I also apologize if my comments don't belong in this thread and are more appropriate to the "Craig is Back" thread.

Re: Factual News

...add to that list the fact that the 2020 Final Four is being played April 4-6. Every young male in America will be watching TV for those days. I guarantee you Bond 25 will be all over the place.

Excellent point. Perfect advertising platform for Bond 25 (and the Heineken 007 commercials) . Because basketball has become a truly international game, I would guess that the NCAA Final 4 is also broadcast in Europe and Asia (especially China where basketball has become huge).

Indeed. Touché.

A closer reading than my first over-quick one does reveal a kernel of factual news, albeit submerged in what appeared to be speculation about what may or may be the cause of the delay.

Suitably chastened.

I think this can go in factual news.
Bond fan Ilario bumped into Ben Whishaw in the Victoria and Albert museum and Whishaw confirmed he was back as Q.

Re: Factual News

Article highlights:

- Filming "this spring"
- Rami Malek currently in negotiations for villain
- Billy Magnussen top choice to play a CIA agent. Has worked with Fukunaga before
- 2 female parts are a new MI6 agent and an accomplice. Chemistry tests with DC still to be done.
- Fukunaga turned in his draft at beginning of year. Eon happy with it and doubts cast over there being a major rewrite.

Shame it seems we won't get Leiter, or maybe we get a new Leiter? Collider says Malek could be playing a blind villain.

So, there have been 4 scripts as Burn's 'overhaul' didn't happen, but it seems there is a Fukunaga version of Purvis & Wade's treatment/script...
https://www.ajb007.co.uk/post/940172/#p940172

We seem to be getting a lot of cast members. So far, Bond, Madeleine, villain, Scooby gang, new MI6 agent (they've dropped the female bit?), Camille-like accomplice says Variety (why not Camille?). Is the accomplice, Lupita Nyong'o? But, still no mention of Tanner. Has Rory Kinnear offended someone? And what about the henchman/woman?

Between the Scooby gang, Madeleine, the new MI6 agent, the CIA, and the accomplice, it seems Bond will be accompanied for much of the film.

Casting another CIA agent doesn't mean no Leiter. Look at Gregory Beam in QoS...

Re: Factual News

Exactly - Leiter could still return. Also, remember last year, Craig visited both the CIA HQ and the National Cryptologic museum? First thought on people's minds was it's research for B25, and with any luck we could be seeing a very espionage-y Bond film. ajb007/martini

Always have an escape plan. Mine is watching James Bond films.
