Re: Factual News

Some more info from Baz:

Filmmaker Cary Joji Fukunaga and a small crew are heading to Norway to shoot a frozen lake before it thaws. The footage will be incorporated into the pre-credit scenes for Bond 25, starring Daniel Craig.

It’s interesting to note that Danny Boyle, who withdrew as director, had wanted to film an iced-over lake in Canada. Principal filming will take place in Jamaica and at studios in the UK. The latest version of the screenplay is still being written.

Re: Factual News

Italy again? There are so many countries in the world and they keep using the same one. How many times for DC is that now?

And I bet they still won't use "Risico" ajb007/lol

Locations are not chosen purely for creative reasons. I would be very surprised if Bond 26 does not also film in Italy.

Got to ask: What makes Italy so unique that no other out of 192 states has?

The name is Walker by the way.

A special financial deal.

Re: Factual News

I'm sure Italy is a nice country, but yeah, so many times now.

Still holding out hope for Japan, although we would have probably heard something by now if they were...

That Shatterhand rumour, even if false, has definitely got people thinking about the garden of death plot and surely eon must know this... Here's still hoping.

Is it that great? I remember the Rome car chase in Spectre cost a fortune. And there were all kinds of problems with permits.

All for a scene that didn't work.

Re: Factual News

I think a special financial deal (if there is one) shouldn‘t lead to every single film being shot in that country.

The name is Walker by the way.

I think it's a loyalty points system, after eight films you

I thought it was more of a buy one get one free situation.

I've always wanted to have Christmas in Turkey

Re: Factual News

I think familiarity is a factor. When the Bond producers know a country and the location scouts, casting directors and local film crews there they tend to find it easy to go back many times.

Re: Factual News

My guess is the Italian location doubles for somewhere else, which is obviously not uncommon in Bond or other blockbuster films. At least the architecture of this particular location is visually interesting and doesn’t necessarily say “Italy” to me in the way that Venice or Rome does.

But then again, Bond‘s been more often in the Bahamas whereas those were last seen in ‘06...

Re: Factual News

Apparently the location in Italy that has been rumored has been used in other films but as some place else, not Italy.

On the bright side, for a great Bond themed holiday, Italy is now the " One stop shop "  ajb007/bond

By 1981 Italy was already a great Bond-themed holiday with Sardinia, Venice and Cortina. Now with 4 more locations it's unstoppable!

Looking at the lengths of the PTS in the other 23 Bond films that have them, excluding the gun barrel sequence (where they have one) and the title credits after, the approximate duration for each film's PTS are below.

FRWL 2.5
Goldfinger 4.3
Thunderball 4.1
YOLT 5.3
OHMSS 6.0
DAF 4.2
LALD 4.31
TMWTGG 7.39
TSWLM 7.16
Octopussy 6.5
FYEO 5.55
Moonraker 5.10
AVTAK 6.00
TLD 7.16
LTK 8.2
Goldeneye 10
TND 8.0
TWINE 13
DAD 13
Casino 3.1
Quantum 3.3
Skyfall 12
Spectre 12

For most of the series the PTS is typically no more than 5-6 minutes, but there are five films in double digits. The average for all 23 PTS is about seven minutes.

I think the PTS for Bond25 could be one of the longer ones, to explain the new situation, if we see a time jump with DC's grey hair and he is with Madeleine and no longer with MI6, as he appeared to quit at the end of Spectre.

71

Re: Factual News

Interesting. the longer lengths are usually in relation to the bigger the action setpiece is. I remember TWINE being the longest because it featured both the bank fight and the boat chase. If the PTS doesn't involve Bond at all as some speculate, in relation to FRWL, LALD, and TMWTGG, it'll probably be shorter. If this is Bond's cottage, then   Brexit 's about to go down and it could even take twenty minutes. If Bond is in it i want a snowmobile chase with machineguns to make up for the lack of action in Austria.

Re: Factual News

I don't think there is any point in keeping this thread they way it's used now, I can't tell it apart from the Bond25 discussion thread. Close it or police it better.

73

Re: Factual News

The facts have been few and far between, N24. More will soon be available.

74

Re: Factual News

True, but that wasn't my point. Members seen to treat this thread and the Bond25 pretty much the same, a Place to post rumours and unofficial stories and discuss them. The intention of this thread was to have a thread where members who weren't interested in reading tthrough all that just to keep up with the facts. This thread was for veriefied, official news only. If it's not, what's the point of keeping it? As others have pointed out, the Bond news and dicussions are spread out on too many threads now.

75

Re: Factual News

My inclination is to keep it open, since it's a popular thread, but if a lot of members ask for it to be closed then I'll do that.

As stated earlier, I'm trying to avoid spoilers so everyone please use "Report" or send me (or Sir Miles) a PM in case I miss something in this thread.
