Topic: Other Daniel Craig movies

I don't know if there's another thread for this but are there some other Craig movies you recommend? I've seen some, like Defiance, road to perdition, layer cake and the girl with the dragoon tattoo, and some others like logan lucky but i didn't like that to much. But now I'm a little curious on a movie called Enduring love with craig and the guy from Notting hill. Someone seen that? And also i would like to se Flashbacks of a Fool where he plays a miserabel hollywood star or something like that.

Re: Other Daniel Craig movies

It's well over 10 years since i saw Enduring Love and I can't recall many of the details of the story, however a couple of scenes stick out in my mind. It opens with an accident involving a hot air balloon, and Craig's character is stalked throughout the film by Rhys Ifans' character who becomes obsessed with him after they both are involved with the balloon accident. As I recall it was a pretty good film.

I liked The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn in which Craig plays (via performance capture) the villain of the film. Also, Spielberg's Munich is pretty good.

A film starring Craig that I am curious to see is The Trench, in which Craig plays a WWI soldier on the Western Front. The film has middling reviews, but I'd still like to see it.

Re: Other Daniel Craig movies

@Licencetochat, Here is a run down on the story in Flashbacks Of A Fool from IMDB.com :" An aging Hollywood star, Joe Scott, lives a life of narcissistic hedonism, observed by his laconic personal assistant, Ophelia. The death of his childhood best friend, Boots, takes our protagonist, and the movie, into an extended flashback to a sea-side town in 1970's Britain. Hollywood star Joe is now a teenage boy in a tentative relationship with a school-girl called Ruth. Further, his mother's friend, Evelyn, is attempting to seduce him. Engulfed by guilt at the unintended, tragic consequences of his subterfuge, he leaves home. The movie then switches back to contemporary Hollywood. Joe confronts his fear and returns to England for a difficult meeting with Ruth, who had gone on to marry Boots and has been a left a poor widow."

Despite the movie not being a financial hit, it did receive good critical notices and I am curious to see it myself. Defiance (2008) is really well done, defiantly one of Craig's best roles. The Power Of One (1992) is Craig's first acting role and a real standout performance as well from what I have heard. The Mother (2003) is another strong dramatic role for him where he plays a handyman that is out to seduce an older married woman that is employing his services. Munich (2005) is another performance of his pre-James Bond days that is very popular. I would not be surprised if this is where the Steve McQueen comparisons started, since his character is named Steve and he sports a very Steve McQueenese haircut in the movie.

Re: Other Daniel Craig movies

yes i have seen Munich too, there's definitely some craig movies i haven't seen before that i must watch. And for the future i would love to see a Daniel Craig and a Arnold Schwarzenegger action film since they are both one of my favorite actors. How cool would that be? But i doubt that will ever happen.

Re: Other Daniel Craig movies

Kings is another Daniel Craig movie that I am curious to see.  It is a drama that focuses on the lives of two people during the 1992 Los Angeles riots that occurred after the acquittal of the four police officers that beat Rodney King. Also I heard that the British tv miniseries The Ice House is a definite must see if your a Daniel Craig fan. I am looking forward to seeing Craig in the murder mystery film Knives Out later this year as well.

Re: Other Daniel Craig movies

Kings has a very low score on imdb, but i sure think i would watch it at some point, and it has Halle Berry in it too. Knives out i will definetively watch when it comes out.

Re: Other Daniel Craig movies

Layer Cake (2004) is one of his most famous roles pre-James Bond. In fact it was this movie that convinced producer Barbra Broccoli, to cast him as 007.  Craig plays a character simply called XXXX (or Unknown) who is a cocaine dealer. Looking forward to an early retirement from criminal life, he is forced by his boss to perform two difficult tasks. It has quite a strong cast with supporting roles filled by Tom Hardy, Ben Whishaw and Michael Gambon among others. I plan on watching this one very soon, as part of a Daniel Craig marathon.

Re: Other Daniel Craig movies

It's a really good movie, but I'm not sure it's the reason Craig was cast a s Bond. I seem to remember an interview (deliberately vague, yes) where it's said Barbara Broccoli got the idea when she saw Craig as a catholic assassin in Elizabeth (1998).

Re: Other Daniel Craig movies

I watched both Layer Cake and Munich recently, defiantly two of Daniel Craig's best movie roles in his career. I am hoping to watch some more after the holidays are over with. I heard many good things about his World War 1 movie The Trench (1999), which also features Ben Whishaw in a supporting role, so that is next on my list along with Road To Perdition (2002) and The Ice House(a 1997 BBC tv movie).

Re: Other Daniel Craig movies

Knives out looks like it might be interesting. Layer cake is my favourite, i think Craig is terrific in this.

Agreed, Layer Cake is a brilliant movie.
