Ok breaking cover, it’s been a year since my last post and was hoping to make it a a special one to mark my 2000th post, however Snake Boy’s post has pissed me off.  I echo what everybody else has said about FE promising a screen accurate reproduction prop and then delivering a lemon.  I would like to see a response from Barry at FE.

I believe there maybe a solution though.  If FE are to be believed then the original prop was 3D scanned and then the moulds produced.   It would be very easy to increase the size of the scan before 3D printing it to turn into a mould to get this oversize monstrosity.  All we need is for someone with access to the hardware to rescan the repro, take the size down accordingly and print it again, probably using SLA printing to achieve the smooth finish and then make the files available though Shapeways or another company.  As the fan produced prop would not be the same size as the FE one then the copyright issues shouldn’t arise and it could be argued that it was sculpted from scratch.  Before anybody says the cat is out of the bag, this post may solicit a response from FE.

It’s good to be back.

Interesting to see that no response has been given by Barry, i preordered these and have requested my pre order is cancelled due to it not being what it said on the tin, my email was being passed over to the owner who i pressume is Barry on the 17th December and im yet to hear anything back, i certainly wont be ordering anything from them again. Poor show Factory Entertainment.

Re: FE SPECTRE Mask

David, when you say “supersized” is that a reference to the length of the episode or the size of the mask? ajb007/wink

Shame about the underbite situation. Mine isn't the issue others are having. I'm pleased with the display properties. Might try to engineer a way for the mouth to rest a little more openly.

My advice is to permanently fix the jaw shut in the optimum position.  It doesnt need to move for display or wear.

Great video! The mask does seem larger than the movie version.

Wasn't this supposed to be cast directly from the prop?

Currently own: NTTD RT Supply jacket Large, MI:Fallout Boss Coram Bomber jacket 40R, CR: Sunspel Polo Large

Currently want: NTTD Massimo Alba Sloop Suit

Re: FE SPECTRE Mask

It is larger. Much much larger.  Despite Barry’s claim that it’s the same size as the hero, that’s just not correct at all. It’s massive compared to all the external location masks and the reveal used hero with arms used in the hotel scene, including the back ups.  They also didn’t make larger versions for production.  Or specifically make one for the mannequin in BIM  ajb007/lol  that was made for the location scenes and is the same as the others.  The only difference in the production masks from one to another is some of the painted  details which are minor.

They were all made to specifically fit snug to Craig’s head and look good and sharp while defining his features and make him instantly recognisable.  So that’s why as Barry says, it was dead tight on him when he tried it on.  Which makes sense.  No way on Earth, is his copy tight on him.  It’s not just large, but comedically so.

They should have just released it as a static display piece and not made, and continue to make claims about its accuracy and then people would have been much happier.  It’s the wool being pulled over the eyes of collectors that know better that seems to be annoying people.  I bought mine based on its accuracy claims as Barry assured me in another thread that it couldn’t have been more accurate even if it had Craig’s hair in it, or similar.  So you can imagine how happy I was when mine turned up

Re: FE SPECTRE Mask

I am watching David's video about the mask and his conversation with Barry.

Ok, let's accept for one second everything that Barry said, but why did you not make the mask smaller, when it was not supposed to be worn yada yada?

Re: FE SPECTRE Mask

The great thing about this mask is it was designed and crafted to be a second skin for Daniel which is why it looked so bloody good on screen. Its fit was so specific and stylish that it could almost have been tagged Tom Ford! where as Factory Entertainment's creation would perhaps be more suited to Daniel's alter ego Sidney James!

Whenever I see this image it reminds me of a 1960s wind up chimp playing with his bongos!  ajb007/lol

Look on the bright side. It’ll fit your fat head. And it’s a mask so a bonus for us.

There is a german film called „Der Wixxer“ which would translate to „the W*nker“...seems more like a replica of THAT mask then Spectre‘s.  ajb007/lol  ajb007/lol

But seriously, I‘m with Higgins. If you create a replica thats never to be worn in the first place why would you bother making it bigger into a universal fit and not stay SA?  ajb007/confused

The name is Walker by the way.

Re: FE SPECTRE Mask

David’s video was good but whet the guy was saying didn’t really make sense- so the original was too small to be used as a mask and was sized up, but it can’t be worn as a mask anyway?!?!

I’m definitely out of the running for this replica, a damn shame as I was looking forward to picking one up.

Has anyone bought or know of an unofficial one that looks the part or can be suitably altered that isn’t John Merrick sized? I’m not looking to wear this so a resin version is best. There are loads on eBay but the photos vary from one to the next so you don’t really know what you’re getting.

Re: FE SPECTRE Mask

Yes, at one time, FE Barry says, that the outer dimensions are correct (and they are not), but inside, there is a lot of space because the shell is too thick.

Doesn‘t make sense at all!
