The Molton is a nice boot, but is anyone looking at this overall outfit and saying, "That looks great! I am going to totally rock this out in the world." (Contrast it with the Skyfall Scotland outfit.) A $700 pair of boots can't save a loose henley and an undistinguished pair of charcoal-black cords. I like the NTTD clothes more than most but won't be wearing this combination.

Sorry but have to say I disagree with you on this one. I think this outfit is far more practical and wearable in real life than many of the other outfits in the movie. Most of the outfits to my eye have been a big disappointment. The N Peal woolly jumper looks a bit obvious and try hard.

Oh, I don't disagree with you! It's totally wearable. It looks like what I'd throw on to cut brush. You could piece the look together for less than $50. What I am saying is that it's undistinguished. Show up for a date wearing this and see how delighted your woman is.

Jack Ryan season 1—R&B henley, black pants and brown boots...his date certainly didn't seem to mind  ajb007/biggrin

I think its an understated casual look and yes you can put together something similar for $50 but like anything you can spot quality clothing vs cheaper imitations. This outfit actually cost in total $1,000 or more (mostly the shoes but still the trousers and henley are expensive items as well!!)

Re: Crockett & Jones for NTTD

you're all forgetting the most important bit of these 'simple' outfits...the £30-40k per annum to provide a Bond or Ryan quality frame to hang the clothes on! ajb007/lol

Re: Crockett & Jones for NTTD

Think how much happier Ryan's date would have been if he'd showed up like this!

https://i.postimg.cc/4H5YMgjX/qosit-main1.jpg

And look, it's a good thing we all have different tastes. I also agree that quality clothing reveals itself. (There's also the matter of not knowing the plot turns of NTTD and why Bond is dressed this way. I'm guess that dressing up in a TF cardigan wouldn't be right for this scene.)

I just don't find the look worth emulating as an ensemble for anything much beyond tromping through the woods, which I wouldn't do in C&J boots. I want Bond clothes to inspire me to try to look better. Even the Enjoying Death outfit got me to try a patterned shirt which people seem to love on me, and the Menlo is my most worn leather jacket.

That said, I should note that I own not one but two of the R&B henleys and have my name in with Massimo Alba for the cord reissue.  ajb007/lol

Re: Crockett & Jones for NTTD

That's a good outfit. Would've been even better if the blobby Ryder's were replaced with Chilterns or suede Moltons

Yep I love this outfit with the shawl collar cardigan. In fact the NTTD outfit would look better with the cardigan on top of the Henley. That is an outfit I often wear having seen DC wear a white Henley under the grey Prada shawl cardigan and i think it’s a very cool look.

Re: Crockett & Jones for NTTD

Thankfully they haven’t gone down this path. I definitely don’t need another Bond shawl cardigan!  ajb007/lol

thats not fair to compare! the Talamone-outfit is probably the best causal outfit in the DC era, it has everthing, you are never overdressed or underdressed, you can wear it in the woods, you can wear it to a date, it is causal but has the bond elegance, its a masterpiece of costume design! : D

the Duster outfit is more limited, but it wasn't design for a date and from what I have seen from the trailer it works really well beside of that I really like the fact that it doesn't look like $2500, I'm not a fan of clothing which screams: look how expensive I am, among other things subtle clothing can be key to elegance, the devil is in the details

back to the C&J; if its true that there are really a pair of brown Moltons and Conistons I'll go for just one of them and combine them with both outfits, the price of two C&Js just hurts too much... I like the Conistons more I'm a huge fan of that style and I think they will work with both of them, Duster and RGT if it comes that way...wonder if there will be a causual outfit we haven't seen so far

I think I feel the same way about buying another pair of brown suede chukkas (rough out or not) as some do about buying another cardigan.  ajb007/smile

Re: Crockett & Jones for NTTD

Re: Crockett & Jones for NTTD

Well, the (terribly worded) email has just dropped stating the C&J NTTD line up including limited edition will be presented on Friday.

63

Re: Crockett & Jones for NTTD

I just got it too, started another thread before seeing this one, poor wording and formatting would be an incredibly kind evaluation of the email.

Re: Crockett & Jones for NTTD

I liked the cryptic email. I thought it was good fun and humorously sets the stage for Friday's reveal. I also don't mind 007 logos on boxes: it certainly beats having them on the actual product!

I'm betting on the sole

Re: Crockett & Jones for NTTD

I'm thinking a small and subtle "007" inside the shoe/boot, if at all.

70

Re: Crockett & Jones for NTTD

I'm typo prone and often fail to proofread so I tend to be forgiving about this stuff. But that was so bad. Reads like a bot whose first, second, and third languages aren't English.

71

Re: Crockett & Jones for NTTD

Will anyone here buy any of the NTTD footwear? I was interested in the Moltons however I have been told I can't resole this particular boot with vibram sole due to its construction so that rules it out for me

I hate dainite with a passion  ajb007/crap

Re: Crockett & Jones for NTTD

I've had a bit of spare time at work and have come up with a very rough idea (using a combination of Microsfoft Word and Paint) for a 007-themed shoe that Crockett & Jones could make, using a Bond image, that I think is quite subtle and tasteful. No garish logos here! Just the gunbarrel on the toe done with broguing.

Could work actually.. I think if that were created discreetly in broguing, nobody other than a keen eyed Bond fan would think anything of it.

"Any of the opposition around..?"

I get what they were trying to do, a slow reveal - like the Spectre title announcement - but it still came across like they were high...
