Re: AJB live commentary on TND

Pryce is one of this film's strengths, never more so than at the climax.

Michelle Yeoh really *performs* with those weapons... whereas Pierce tends just to point, pout and shoot..

Critics and material I don't need. I haven't changed my act in 49 years.

She definitely kicks ass more than the majority of other “Bond Girls”. The “hiyah” every time she kicks someone is a bit comedic though  ajb007/lol

As Carver seemed to think. The look she gave him when he said, "Pathetic!"

Another Bond baddie Uber vessel goes Boom!!

This is Thunderbird 2, how can I be of assistance?

Re: AJB live commentary on TND

Stamper is the poor man's Red Grant. I'd say Necros was better.

Ah, you're underrating him. He has more than one painface!

Re: AJB live commentary on TND

Definitely one of the more brutal ways for Bond to kill the “big bad”.

Pryce performs the agony of his violent death, despite having camped up much else (in a good way)

Re: AJB live commentary on TND

Nope, prefer Stamper.

Because he‘s german and not austrian

Re: AJB live commentary on TND

The "no pain" idea was expanded for Renard in the next movie

He's one of the best of this archetype

I've seen blocks of cedar that have more presence than Stamper.  He's such a non-entity, even with that Dolph Lundgren chin going on.

Music “Surrender” Sung by kd lang. Arnold submitted this for the title song, but it was relegated to the end titles. Total, total pastiche of John Barry/James Bond songs done gloriously over the top.

I respectfully disagree.  Necros had panache and brought some real zeal to his scenes.  Stamper is just there, absorbing energy.

Re: AJB live commentary on TND

Stamper's implied motive of avenging Kaufman not really convincing. But his lines "For Carver! For Kaufman!" actually echo a part of John Brosnan's book 'James Bond In The Cinema' (1972). Brosnan complained that when Blofeld first met Bond in YOLT he should have slapped him round the face and said, "That's for Doctor No! And that's for Largo!"

Critics and material I don't need. I haven't changed my act in 49 years.
