- Please make sure that everybody has their BluRay/DVD/VCR ready and start the player latest 19:00 GMT to get done with all the dodgy menus.
- PAUSE YOUR PLAYER RIGHT BEFORE THE GUNBARREL

We've had the posters hanging around for 2 weeks already and I've studied every detail to catch up an idea what may happen there.
I went to the movie 2 days after the german premiere with my french penpal and I remember that we both left the theatre with a smile on our faces.
I had an affection for Bond since TSWLM (which was my first Bond movie) but after seeing FYEO, I knew that something had clicked and that I've became a Bond fan.
I also remember that the following weekend, Willy Bogner was on the most popular Sports Show on german TV and had some cool sequences from the movie (with the marvelous Bill Conti Score runaway) and he talked a lot about the shootings in Cortina.
Many years later, my dream became true and we've spent a week in Cortina skiing and location hunting.
Cortina is a magic place to me just like James Bond Island in Thailand is and Schilthorn in Switzerland.
I also remember that I've purchased german magazine "Cinema"
and there was a very small ad for the James Bond German Fan Club that I've joined immediately.
Back then Marc Hertling ran the club from the basement of his parents in Berlin (back then East German territory with a special status) and issued his magazine (basically stapled photocopied A4 sheets) 4 times a year.
Things went bad with him very soon as he obviously has gotten subsidized by the NSNA guys and he turned against EON and praised NSNA over OP on every possible occasion and it's gotten really annoying to me (I remember the headline "All time low" for OP).
I also started looking out for memorabilia and the first object of desire was the blue Bogner Skiing jacket (2 months apprentice salaries) and the Olin Skis (same price) which where available in the local sports shop.
They were both out of reach for me back then but I've seen them many times during my visits there.
FYEO will always hold a special place in my heart, just like your first Love or your first Rolex and Porsche :v

Imo the 4th tone is out of tune (slightly too high) and it was exactly that when I have been there.

But anyway, another thing I didn’t know (something that is probably common knowledge here) is that Cassandra Harris (Countess von Schlaf) was married to Pierce Brosnan at the time. Not sure how I didn’t know that...or ever see Brosnan’s glorious moustache at the premiere...till now.
You can see how well she goes with Moore, she has the right age and the short romance is a highlight of the movie. It‘s played with lots of grace and dignity and there is no need for the teenager teddybear-in-love show that Dalton plays with d‘Abo.
It just shows how good of actors both where.
If I remember correctly Brosnan was also on set and those where the first talks between him and Cubby to take the role one day.
I also know that there was an ongoing friendship with Cassandra‘s daughter and Babs even after Brosnan left.
