What Do We Think About the Aqua Terra?

Bond has worn two Omega Aqua Terras now (according to Omega’s site anyway), and this might be my misperception but I feel as if these models have taken a back seat to the Divers, Planet Oceans, and the 300 on AJB.

I know many here own them. (My first Omega was an Aqua Terra.) I just don’t sense the same excitement on AJB around these models as the other Seamasters, based on the Watch Porn thread and other threads. I feel like I’ve seen fewer photos, for example, of AJB members sporting their Aqua Terras.

The odd thing is that the AT seems to be widely lauded for its design and craftsmanship. It’s been nicknamed the Gentleman’s Seamaster which, by all rights, sounds like most James Bond watch of them all.

Now I’m ready to admit this might all be my imagination. I’m just wondering if others feel the same way.

    I love my SF AT
Bought as a surprise xmas pres by my wife (given to me early as I was going on and on about going to my local AD to get the last one left :)))...

Ive got all the DC era omegas but wear it as a daily.

Kinda goes with everything, from a tux to jeans. Not too bulky, and the blue teak deck face changes colour in diff lights / diff angles.

    Very versatile and still stunning
    Skewered, one sympathises...

The Craig era AT is gorgeous and would be my next Omega if I could swing it right now.

I've been slowly selling my other Bond watches but the Skyfall AT is staying. It checks all the boxes for me.

The Skyfall AT is on my list for sure. I just think since in Skyfall and Spectre the AT gets such limited screen time (and doesn't go boom) that it's not as highly sought after.

I’ve owned both the SF and Spectre AT’s. Both watches were wonderful. The only downside to both was that the lume was dreadful on them. If that was up to the normal Omega standard it’s likely I would still own them. The Spectre one has polished centre links which I didn’t like either but that can be brushed out.

I’ve edit the SF AT an dit’s one of my favourite watches. I’ve moved my POs on, but that’s a keeper.

I would say that the SF AT is fairly sought after. Not too many pop up for sale and from what I’ve seen, when they do they seem to go for a little more than similar ATs.

The chunkiness of the case for a elegant looking watch annoyed me - especially on the Skyfall 38.5mm version. Moved mine on

I bought the Spectre Aqua Terra about 4 weeks as I wanted the 41.5mm over the SF’s 38.5mm. I love it and I agree with the comments above, you can wear this thing with anything. I wear it more frequently than my SF PO.

Really? Haha - small world on TZ.

Often wonder which members have my old watches (if not flipped to WF etc)

It sure is. I traded a Submariner for the AT plus a brand new iPhone and a wad of cash in a Tesco car park.....those were the days :))

I ended up selling it to a decent member on TZ over a nice coffee.

Ask Mr Higgins what he thinks about the AT.
I bought the LE and love it.
Apparently, DC is wearing one in NTTD.

I love my AT - My wife bought mine for my 30th birthday. She doesn't know Bond like I do, so it's not the exact same as the one in the film, but I never had the heart to tell her. Love it all the same and yes, it goes with everything - so it's the watch that spends the most time on my wrist.

    .

Just ask Welshie about his Hulk and his AT :D
I told him, that he‘d not be happy with them ( I certainly wasn‘t with his choices) and he flipped both after short time -silently so that I could not bash him for being wrong :D

Seriously, enjoy your ATs. They are not my cup of tea but are good watches {[]

Good for you. Some things are more important than having the exact same watch!

The Skyfall AT remains on my list. I’ll acquire one at some point. I don’t care for the Spectre version at all, though. It’s too big to be considered elegant, and the polished links are a big miss. It’s just a standard modern sports watch, whereas the Skyfall seems unique. It was also a welcome surprise to see Bond wearing something other than a giant dive watch.

    Yes Mike

I went from 4 Rolex and a few Omega to this.... (though I have put deposit down for the NTTD Omega)

    Love these 4.

Would still love the Travel Time Aquanaut - think that would be my ultimate watch / daily

You love then because they are rare and because you‘ve gotten them for half the market value ;)

The BLRO should be on an Oyster strap. Like this it‘s a blingy Luxury Gadget with no historic relation.
The Daytona is nice and beautiful - I own one myself.

The quality of PP went down significantly in the past years, they are overpriced trophies for people who want to be better than Rolex

TT Aquanaut, I could understand for 10k. That‘s what they are really worth imo ;)

The Daytona is actually the one I like the least! :))

I did have reservations about the Jubilee but rather like it a lot but maybe too blingy! Tempted to consolidate though with Aqua for the Travel Time equivalent

Nah - the 5711 is a absolute stunner and blows the Rolex away in the finish and looks department!

Ive been through most sport Rolex now and these are my fave two for sure

    Apples and Oranges, Welshie....
You don‘t seriously want to compare a Patek with a Rolex or use a Rolex as benchmark?

It used to be that you get the best finish by Patek Philippe, that is not the case anymore, because

    1. Others have outshined PP in the last 2 or 3 decades
    2. PP have gotten worse

I like the Skyfall AT. Earlier, someone suggested that part of the problem is it's not used on screen as much. I do think that accounts for 90% of the diminished fanfare. Add to that Omega's own website - their Bond pages sorta downplay the AT in favor of the Seamasters from Skyfall and Spectre. Lastly, a sports watch might be a tad easier to justify at the price. More usable for the majority of people (is my guess).

But I want one. I'm waiting for the right price. I have two 2531.80s and a 2220.80. The AT is clearly a far dressier watch yet, at the same time, it's not so radically different from the Bond Blues where I feel like it adds something especially new to my collection.
