Topic: Don Black interviewed

Don Black, 82, was briefly interviewed on BBC2's Newsnight this evening, as someone who survived illness with coronavirus earlier this year. He seemed chipper and in good spirits. The piece obviously included clips of performed Bond lyrics - as well as other samples of his prolific work through the decades. The presenter wryly referred to Black's "old mate, James Bond" over a clip from the title sequence of TWINE. Black claims that he writes much of his stuff sitting at his pool table - where he was interviewed - as he claims he takes creative comfort from the green baize. He was put on the spot and asked his opinion about the current storm in a UK teacup over the lyrics of 'Land Of Hope And Glory' - and he gave the response you'd expect of the guy who wrote 'Thunderball'!

Critics and material I don't need. I haven't changed my act in 50 years.
