Re: 3 fears, 2 hopes

Ive been pondering on this , and I do think Nomi will die in the third act but it will be a big, sacrificial one like Mayday, where she leaves the film with more than her dignity in tact. And this will be after they stop arguing and become platonic pals. The focus is on Bond, but Nomi is treated well. Probably best case scenario IMHO.

According to bits and pieces ‘leaked’ - this is NOT the case...

That's a shame, because that was what I was hoping for.

It makes no sense or logic that EON/MGM who wanted Craig back so badly that they waited him out until he made up his mind and ponied up huge $$$$ to pay him, would make a Craig Bond film where Craig/Bond plays second fiddle. Of course that does not mean that other characters won't have their moments and be pivotal elements. Also, remember the catch phrases that are used in movie trailers can be like internet click bait.

Also we have to bear in mind that these catchphrases from the trailers are one tiny tidbit in a 2.5h long movie full of dialogue.

The name is Walker by the way.

On the contrary, I think DC and the producers want to show they're at the forefront of equality and having a strong female supporting cast (almost joint lead in Nomi). I don't think he will play second fiddle but I think this film will be even more a double act than we've seen previously. Bond will have more screen time but Nomi will be as crucial to 'saving the world' and the heroine as much as Bond is the hero.

I think what you said is possible. My only concern would be that it is well written and not done in a trite, forced, and heavy handed manner. To avoid that one of the things they need to steer clear of is making much of the conflict between Bond and Nomi gender related as it just would not fit at all with Craig's Bond who just doesn't have those issues in the previous 3 films. Judging by what little we have seen in the trailers, it does not appear that Bond and Nomi's issues are gender based but more related to age and approach to the job. Actually it appears that Nomi is more threatened by the reappearence of an older retired "00", especially one with a well deserved reputation for being a bit out of control, having a bit too many personal demons and going off the reservation.....which IMO would be a nice twist.

Re: 3 fears, 2 hopes

A couple thoughts on the Bond death possibility... I think the producers have accomplished what they set out to do and that's to create conversation. Almost every preview somehow weaves in a line or two about Bond dying. It'd be too obvious in my opinion. I just can't see them previewing Blofeld saying "...it'll be the death of you." for almost a year and then Bond dies.

Ooooorrrr, knowing that we’d all naturally assume Bond won’t die because of the amount of dialogue they put in the trailers referencing Bond dying, they could actually have him die, fooling everyone that’s overthinking it   ajb007/shifty

That's exactly what I said in a previous post. It would be very strange from the producers to tease the death of their heroe before the release of the movie, unless they want it NOT to be epic and surprising. We currently live in a social media era in which any single word or any single shot from a trailer could be related to any speculation topic, without forgetting the leaks from various sources. Bond dying would be the biggest plot twist ever in the entire franchise, after almost six decades of surviving movie after movie. Taking the chance of suggesting it will finally happen would spoil everything to me. It would be like having put the line "Is Darth Vader my father ?" into the trailer of Episode V.
Furthermore, what Lashana Lynch says about the relationship between Bond and Nomi and the way they eventually accomplish the mission makes me think Bond will not die, even she doesn't say it properly:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XV_PD9VHhUQ

Nevertheless, there were rumors about the fact Fukunaga shot three alternate endings, one of them including Bond's death...

If everything goes right, we'll soon know if our friend Danny Boyle was indeed the one who intended to kill Bond off or the opposite.
